Thanks, I forgot about this thread. I did end up trying white nail polish applied with a toothpick. Worked good enough for me. Thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for all the replies. Even tho my sights are clean they're still dull so I'm definitely leaning to hitting them with paint or something. ++ on the dot suggestion. My Springfield 911 has dots...

What's a good sight paint to refresh the dots on my Star Firestar 9mm? I noticed the other day, while shooting in some tree shade, the dots have turned very dull. I'd like to freshen them up so I'm...

Get one of them Hotshot TC replacement nipples . They work great in my TC side hammers.

3/4" diameter ramrod? Couldn't a smaller diameter rod work with a large attachment or flared end? I've drilled ramrod channels before. Had to make a jig that held the stock place in perfect...

I use a felt wad smeared with lube under my conical bullets for both .40 and .50. The .40 I shoot at 200 yards and get consistent results.

++ for beans. Made one using denim pant leg and dried pinto beans. No liner needed, good weight and allows a rifle fore end to nestle right in.

+++ for the TC Patriot-super accurate! I love mine and don't get to shoot it as much as I used to. Now I'm motivated to take it out for spin again!

If it's sparking, it's going to leave marks. Just the nature of rock hitting metal. Your flint seems a little rounded and thick. A straighter more even striking edge would leave more consist...

For what it's worth; I've used Lee Express blue and brown with great success. I've achieved some very nice deep results with it applying anywhere from 6-8 coatings on barrels and other parts. The...

Thanks for the additional comments. I'm still circling the airport on this while I gather funds. Seller isn't in a hurry so I have time.

I'm really enjoying this thread. Thank you all for the feedback. I still haven't decided if I'll procure this Ballrad or not.

It's a great way to get reacquainted with your kids too. My son and I used to shoot frequently when he was young, especially black powder. He loved it and we had lots of great trips to the range. ...

All good stuff to hear. I'm still on the fence with this and have time to think about it. Anyone have any personal experience with a Red Willow Ballard?

Wow, that video is crazy! She did in 2 minutes what it takes me about an hour to do!

I can find very little about these rifles online. And nothing in any of the forums about performance, reliability etc. Anyone have any experience with these and can testify on quality and...

I've got my eye on a Red Willow Armory Ballard for sale locally. Caliber 40-65. I know this company has been reborn a few times since the 90s but the quality of this rifle looks really good. Nice...

I do some checkering sometimes along with the stocks I make. I need to limit a checkering session to about 1.5 hours max. If I go longer, I start to make mistakes. I mimic a lot of old Winchester...

I had a similar problem with an Investarms rifle I got on the cheap. After I tried to fire it I knew why it was so cheap - wouldn't fire. I had to put powder in the bolster after unscrewing the...

It looks like a typical Remington No. 4 rolling block, take-down model. They made them from the 1890s to 1920s - 30s. They also came in 32 rimfire and I beleive they also made a version with a...

I've made wad punches out of straight wall cartridge cases when standard sizes wouldn't work. I cut the rim off and file a sharp edge on one end. 38 cases, 45-70, 500 S&W etc. Hit'em with a leather...

tbx-4, thanks for the suggestions on spring and trigger on my rifle. I'll have to dig that bad boy out and have a look again.
