I've been under the impression the rate of twist for any particular boolit was calculated using the length of the boolit, not the diameter. Is this not correct? I've recently read something about...

A good way to get the cake of lube out of any pan is to line the bottom of the pan with wax paper before beginning. Invert the pan and the cake will usually fall out under it's own weight.

If you have a "Sanford and Son" sort of place near by they can be a great source for old iron Dutch ovens and cook pots, good price and no shipping charges.

That stuff on the roof of the barn has a coating of zinc on it. Stay away from it when you're casting!

If the Bears are wearing flip flops and the Lions are wearing PJ's I'm staying out of the woods!

Find a local wood worker and ask him for some of his planer chips. He'll more than likely give you all you can handle and they'll work fine.

Makes me glad I've never had to mess with a mule!

You'll have to tell us that story some day!

I recall reading on another thread where someone recommended putting some sort of heat shield, such as a baking sheet, between the boolits and the oven's heating element while they're baking. It...

If you're going to try using the Lee sizing dies, I would suggest pan lubing instead of trying to smear the lube on by hand. Cobble up a cookie cutter from a fired brass shell casing and some sort...

That does it! I gotta get me some. I quit trying to cast with my Lee 452-230-TC last night because I couldn't get the blocks to close after droping a boolit. Does the Bullshop sprue plate lube...
While browsing thru MidSouth Shooters Supply's web site I ran across the price of their RCBS mold handles. $3.62 each! Just to find out if I could, I ordered one along with my other stuff and sure...

I don't have any experience with cast hollow points, just theorizing here.
Would it be possible to use a process similar to Beagling to push the hollow back to the center of the boolit?

If you're going to use muffin pans, beware the ones with a nice new shiny coating of tin on the surface of the steel pan. The lead you pour into the muffin pan will be permanently soldered in the...

I've been experimenting with the JPW lube, and so far my favorite method is dipping the base of the boolits in melted JPW. It's faster than smearing by hand (by a long shot) and gives a more even...

Even though I live less than 150 miles from the Gulf of Mexico it still gets cold down here. Now you northern types probably won't appreciate this, but when I looked out the window Saturday mornin'...

The colored slime on top of the melt is oxidation that forms very quickly on molten lead. The oxidation gets in the way when you're dipping and the melt must be fluxed again periodically to remove...

Lead oxidizes especially when it's in the molten state. Is this just the oxidation on the top surface of the molten lead?

I learned just last week (here on the forum) that my new #358429 mold need to get broken in by using it for a couple of casting sessions before I could expect good boolits. I used it for its 3rd...

Not all turkey/fish fryers are built the same. When I was shopping for one the company I bought from had two basic types. Those with 35,000 btu burners and those with 100,000 btu burners. It...

According to the Lee load manual, even if you're using carbide sizing dies, a grain of debris can be hard enough to scratch the die and eventually cause the die to crack.
Tumbling the cases is to...

Here's another one: So far I've been casting straight from the smelting pot. Well, I ordered a Lee Pro 4-20 pot, its coming in tomorrow, so now I need to cast some ingots. I tried casting ingots...

I tried some "hard cast" bullets from Midstates Bullet and they left a tremendous amount of lead in the bore of my .45 ACP Series 70. Accuracy started off only mediocre and got continually worse...
