I hear you Jack. I bought an RCBS pot right after that experience. Nice to have a built in thermo. I still use the Lee on occasion but keep it uncovered.

Should have mentioned that I had left the pot unattended (big no no). If you cover the pot, keep a thermometer in and stay with it. Never let it get over the vaporizing level.

Melting Zinc in with lead is a real cruddy deal but vaporizing the lead is a health hazard. Whatever you do make sure your melt doesnt get hot enough to vaporize. I dont know of any way to do that...

Square Deal uses Dillons proprietary dies. Just something to consider if you already have a few die sets of other manufacture.

Ran that same bullet through an RCBS lube sizer and had similar results. Wiped the bases off on a shop towel. A Star has since solved all my problems.
