So you want the conversion?
It seems a lot of folks don't like to have this done as they reckon it will decrease the value of the gun.

We put in an induction cooktop a year ago and are pretty happy with it. We had a bunch of pots which no longer worked on it but we were buying new pots anyway so that wasn't an issue for us.

To change the thread diameter, I would have to make a new screw, and as this one has the detent under the head, that would be quite difficult.
I think the easiest fix is to make a new nut, but for...

It is an odd thread form.
I can't even find this thread in my Machinery Handbook 25th Edition; listings for No 4 size screws show 36 tpi NS, 40 tpi NC and 48 tpi NF. None are even close to 80...

That would be fantastic! But are you sure you could get a 4 x 80 tap from your hardware store?? It would seem to be a highly specialised tool. I can't even find it in the Brownells website.

I would suggest that the speed listed on eBay is a typo. Not a hope in hades that motor would run at 17,000 rpm! It is a simple squirrel cage motor and would nominally run at 1700 rpm.

I have the 17" version with angled eyepiece and it has been fine for what I need.
I reckon the angled eyepiece is worthwhile; it makes it much easier to use with the gun lying on a bench.
