The quietest pistol I ever fired was a 14" Contender .357max shooting .38 148gr wadcutters. It was more quiet than a .22 rifle for some reason. Made a weird "floop" noise.

I have had the same experience. My Ruger .45 Colts only shoot stuff over 300gr well. Whereas my .44s are reasonably happy with stuff as light as 240gr - maybe lighter as that' the lightest I have...
I have never hunted with a .44 mag.
I think the .44 is an easier choice and if I knew what I know now may have started with a .44 and never looked back.
But I also think that the .45 Colt (in...

Take a grip frame off and weigh it. That will give you an idea of how much weight you can remove.
it seems like the best way to mill it without losing strength would be to make the frame thinner...

If you want to get right down to it all firearms laws are unconstitutional because of the 2nd Amendment.
But I digress...

The Huntertown Kestral .308 cans are very nice, user serviceable (important with cast), quiet and priced well.
I am sold out at the moment, but have more coming on form 3s.

Pick up some round balls for your .30 rifle.
Never had one of those. But I can tell you that if you are starting off that bad, something is definitely wrong with the gun mechanically. You did the "back to back" test with another gun, so you...

Yes, "Show ME", lol
I speak from experience. What looks like a good idea is not always a good idea.

Before you launch those full wadcutter type projectiles at deer, line up some water jugs and see if they penetrate straight. If they tumble in the water or exit the side of a jug early on, you're not...
Part of the filth might be from your boolits. I've never found titegroup to be very dirty. It's not a favorite powder for differen reasons.
**I do not guarantee these loads are safe in any gun, even mine. Some are pretty hot and way off the map with no load data even close. Use at your own risk or preferably DON'T use these loads!**

Got one. Shoots good.
Here's a 25yd 5 shot iron sight group with a 440 and 29gr H110/Fed155. I'm sure it will do better, especially with an Ultra-Dot mounted.
I just haven't had much time to...
I will have to dig through my old issues. Don't know if they go back that far.
Thanks!
Bet it was stripping....
Supposedly it's only in the #24 and maybe older manuals.
I have #26, no dice.
Bump?
I know somebody on here has this old manual laying around.
In the Hodgdon #24 load data manual, there is supposed to be load data show for the 9mm with 158gr bullets. Can anybody share the data? Either type it out or post a pic of that page? OAL, bullet,...
I'm going to be trying the Lee 158RF in a 9mm soon... wanted to push this back to the front page.
