Indeed. On my outdoor covered padlocks up north I use powdered graphite. If they are outside like the cable across my road I use WD-40 long term corrosion as it sheds the moisture better

It has it's uses. I use it on leather boots, rough skin, drilling oil. Some things it's not the best for such as outdoor padlocks.
