Great job on the photography and recovering the bullet without deforming it. Looks great.

That kind of presents more questions than it answered. I doubt the remaining answers are allowed on the forum though. Enjoyed the video.

I’ve had similar issues with his molds as well. Added a little more heat and wrinkles went away after about 40-50 cycles. Never to reappear. Must be the oil he uses in the machining process.

What diameter are your home cast bullets? If .452 then you never got a seal and gas is going by the bullet and never building pressure to have an efficient burn.

I do not believe the above mold was for the zinc proto-X design. I would be tempted to turn it into a plain base.

In addition to the above, if you have a lightened spring and you don't want to get the heavier spring then try some Federal primers in it. They are more sensitive. If you are already using them then...
That's a beautiful BFR and exactly the caliber and length that I want. Someday.
I loaded up a total of 10 maxi-balls to try. Might have been pushing them to hard (11 bhn) but it was fun. 1250...
Couple of tenderloins on the grill will make all the effort worthwhile. I wish you the best of luck.
Glad to hear it. Keep it up these revolvers will astonish many folks with their accuracy. Practice, practice, and practice.
I purchased some lead at an estate sale and there were around 75 Maxi-balls cast and in a tub with some round balls. Thought I would size them up and shoot them. Anybody else do this craziness in a...

If the brass will chamber without trying to enter the throat why not load with light practice loads and prep the brass after practice? Accuracy difference will still be within the offhand margin of...
Could either of you give me the dimensions of the cast performance 440 grain mentioned above?

Probably going to need some more information.
Caliber/pressure/velocity/coated or plain/expected load data.
Don't need all of those but a few of them will help narrow down the advice.

I highly suggest using .500 special brass with the moon clips to speed your reload up. The mag brass gets wedged in with the grip and binds things up.
