I'm all for saving cash, but after getting by with muffin tins and other substitutes, I finally broke down and got two used RCBS ingot molds for about $30 on e-bay.

With a 158 gr. (jacketed) 38-Special load (+P)...

10 grains of 2400 = 929 fps.

5.5 grains of Unique = 875 fps.


Unique would seem to be the choice for LESS...

That was certainly true for me. I bought two "NIB" (HA!) RCBS molds, took them from their original boxes and sure enough, they'd never ever been used.

They'd also never been cared for or stored...

Make sure the penny is 1982 or earlier: melt temp, 1383 deg. F

1983 and later are copper coated zinc, melt temp of 787 deg. F.:x
