There are endless fun light loads to try for sure! Part of the appeal of this round for cast shooters.

Hmm, according to the Berger bullet stability calculator, the 405 grain Lee 45-70 bullet should stabilize in my 1:24 CVA barrel. Of course it will need to be sized, but it's plain based...this...

Good suggestions, I'm always looking to experiment. I don't have an easy source of pure lead (like I do for range scrap), but know this would be better for a sabot'd bullet. Glad to hear the 340...

Central Maryland...They changed the bag limit for does this year from 'unlimited' to...twenty something. They're everywhere! Plus a few out of state hunts...

Good point, I did some math on a stabilization calculator and I know a 370 grain I was considering should have stabilized....500 grain is going to be a stretch.

Thanks for all the replies. Meant to say I had sighted in the load to be 3" high at 50 yards, thought that gave me a point blank zero out to about 150 yards. But boy does it seem to be hitting high...

Following this with interest as I bought a CVA single shot in .450 bushmaster on a whim this year, and have wanted to try subsonic loads in it. Have yet to find the ideal bullet, but sizing down...
