So after a long stint of reloading and casting for metallic cartridge, I decided to dip my toe into shotgun waters. Since I'm limited to just using slugs at my range and have a 870 and 590 with no...
Forum: Gas Checks
If you don't mind, what brand bullet puller? I imagine there might be some differences between the manufacturers collet designs is why I'm asking. I'm just getting into gas checks and this sounds...

Here's something I've been trying recently instead of just wiping the bases as they didn't seem to clean easily. I place a blue shop paper towel on an old, flat, electric skillet and set the skillet...
It took the Pearce LCP Grip extension and the Pachmayr Grip Glove to get the handling issues worked out for me. A stiffer spring from Wolf to help with some of the snap and keep the brass in the...

Alloy could be a factor. I think I read somewhere that LEE tests with Lyman #2.
I was thinking about getting one of these but component availability is one of my deciding factors when buying a gun. Frankly I get the chills just thinking about having to chase that brass on the...

Yup, mold temp a factor with the small cavities. Make sure the venting is good and the sprue plate isn't too tight. Don't be stingy with the sprue puddle either.

Used this guys formula - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBDFO0ftCQc - works for me.
I use a big old electric griddle and silicone baking pans. I size my boolits first as it seems to help retain...
My LEE seems to drop at 206 grains with 50coww/50soww with about 2% tin. Shoots fine for me. hollowpointmold.com had a hollow pointed version that drops at 200 grain with the same alloy.

Skip the powder coating for right now. Pan lube or try Ben's Liquid Lube system for right now. The liquid lube system is dirt simple.

Go here: http://www.lasc.us/Fryxell_Book_Contents.htm
Download the PDF version and read it. I printed mine out and go to it often. Saved me a lot of headaches when I started out.

Buckshot made one for me and it was right on the money. Highly recommended.

Just an FYI for my Raleigh/Cary NC brethren. The Lowe's on Walnut St. in Cary, NC has about 14 cans left.
Forum: Factory & Surplus Powder
When I ordered from BassPro I just had them send to the store in Cary, NC for pickup. Think it was free shipping for orders over a certain price and no Hazmat fee.
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
You said you used five pounds of lead in a clean LEE pot and ran until done correct? When I run the LEE I tend to only run to about half way down the pot. My reasoning is that the pressure of the...
Forum: Factory & Surplus Powder
Thanks for posting this. We just got a Bass Pro in Cary and it was real nice to find some of the powders I've been looking for and have them sent to the store. Now just need some HP38 or Win 231!

Ruger 45 Convertible. Wearing Rosewood Altamont grips and sporting a stainless steel Hunter hammer. Sights touched up for my aging eyes. Considering base pin and pawl work next.

I don't see me ever parting with mine. New grips and hammer.

Sweet gun. I had to get the Jumbo grip for mine. I managed to find a 410 MEC loader for $75 at a Gander Mountain that was closing. Might be time to figure out how to use it.

I'd just stick with sawdust. Home Depot or Lowe's should be able to hook you up. I'd also stick with sawdust from woods without glues. Avoid particle board. Remember, you're gonna be close to...
Zman - great choice. You have the new model right there. Extra wide hammer with the new trigger and release latch. I got the new model SnakeSlayer IV with the Jumbo grips. Makes a nice boom with...
