I have this same gun, and I've always been curious about holly grips (stocks). If you don't mind sharing, where did those come from? Thanks!
I haven't loaded any cast yet for mine, but I did measure the throats. They came in at .360 ! I have a mold and sizer die on order, but it will be a while before I can test it our.
I had a 4.2" version and sold it. I did buy and install X frame grips, which made it much more pleasant to shoot, but it had barrel alignment issues. As it came from the factory, the barrel shroud...
I would point out that point number one above is not always true. My 69 uses that barrel system, and it had to go back for repair as the front sight was misaligned. When it came back, it was better,...

What about cap & ball revolvers that accept conversion cylinders, like most of the common ones? Do they ban these?
I like it fine, but I've had some work done to it. The cylinder throats were undersized, so I sent it to Doug Guy for correction. Slipping plug gauges gently down the bore revealed a restriction...
I bought that exact gun in January. Turnbull case hardening, 5.5" barrel, 45 Colt, special red Ruger box, & TBBxxxx serial number. Is this one something different and new?
I've fired full magnum loads with the original grips, and that's not something I'd do for an extended shooting session. I have a set of the S&W500 grips on order, which supposedly tame full house...
My brother had a BFR in .480 at one point. He got a little overconfident at the bench one day, loosened his grip a little, and the front sight gashed his forehead through his cap! I only wish I could...

I have a nice Pedersoli 12 ga side by side with interchangeable choke tubes that I've been meaning to list on Gunbroker, if there's any interest.
I have the 4.2" version of this revolver, and can attest to the very heavy trigger pull. I purchased the Wolff replacement spring kit, which has three hammer springs and one trigger spring. After...
I first bought a S&W Shield when Glock came out with their .380, and I like it. But I bought a 43 this summer and absolutely love it. I can easily carry if in a pocket holster in my jeans, and I can...

I built a CVA Mountain rifle many years ago, and glass bedded the entire barrel channel. For what its worth, that gun shot extremely well. It may have had nothing to do with the bedding, but it was...

I've had one of those in various stages of completion for more years that I care to admit. Your post inspires me to get busy and finish it. Nice job !
They are definitely worth it. I installed one in a .45, and one in my 9mm Shield. In the Shield, I also replaced the trigger itself with the Apex aluminum Glock-like trigger. I love them both.

I must clarify, the 1861 Navy does indeed have the sculpted streamlined barrel. The 1851 is square.

I added some to my cart, and it then tells you that they do have a $27.50 hazmat charge. Works out to about $6.50 per 100 if you buy 1000.

My setup is in a small block outbuilding with a door at one end and a window at the other. My Promelt is in front of the window, with a fan between it and the window. Yesterday, as I was fluxing with...

I don't know how I missed that message. I mailed in an order a couple of weeks ago. Now I just feel stupid!

I have tried my best to clean the block channels thoroughly, and to dry them too. As for the holes being lined up, I can run something back through the cleanout hole and see it through he nipple...

I am working with my second 1863 Sharps rifle, having become infatuated with these guns. My first was an older IAB Marchetta which never failed to fire even once. I sold it and purchased a Pedersoli...
I haven't called them, but their website has a FAQ section that shows a picture of a "fixed" XDS. They say if you can see a roll pin in the grip safety, its been corrected. I sure hope they have a...

I have that same rifle, and I use 80 grains as well. The chamber must be full or nearly so. Unless there is some sort of defect in the action, that load should be safe. As someone said above, the...
