I have Investarms Hawkens in all the calibers they offered. Also have a few of their other models. They are nice, well built production rifles.

I have a left hand version with the hole in the stock instead of the patch box. Made in Japan by Miroku. Mine is percussion though. But it's been fine.

Very nice. I've always been captivated by cape guns although I've yet to acquire one.

You got that right. When I saw the ad my first thought was that the guy is dreaming. To top it off, it is a plain Jane looking rifle with nothing striking about it at all. But I guess how it looks...

This rifle was just listed on one of our Canadian sites at $1750.00. Wishful thinking?

That's only getting broken in. I have an 81 Honda Silverwing Interstate 500 cc with 206,000 miles on it, lol.

I took a look at the pin locations. It does not appear that they would cause any problems safety concern wise. And yes, I guess the pin holes through the barrel is how it was made as there are no...

But why does the bore look like one would expect of a gun it's age yet the crown looks nice and shiny like it has been very recently worked on?
I'm quite likely stuck with the gun so yes, I will tie...

I had more time to pay attention to this muzzleloader. As far as I'm concerned, somebody butchered it. Looks like the barrel tenons have been removed and holes were drilled through the bottom of the...

Regarding the markings. The gun was listed as 45 caliber. The marking on the barrel says 50 caliber. The bore looked small to me for 50 caliber. I cannot get my 50 caliber bore light down the bore....

I count 8 grooves. It sure looks like a minute man but there is no marking at all of Numrich Arms or Hopkins & Allen.

No, I haven't removed the barrel yet. Guess that will be my next step. I wondered about it being a newer build using a vintage/antique lock. I had the lock out and the internals look very nice.

Gooday everyone. I just picked up this muzzleloader. It's 45 caliber with a 39" barrel. The bore is very nice and barely a mark in the wood. The front lock screw is missing though so will have to...

I picked up a double barrel muzzleloader circa 1850 a few months ago. Both barrels were still loaded with shot. Of course I don't know how recently it had been loaded but it had been awhile. You have...

I have one with the hexagon ram rod thimbles but no barrel marking. I like it.

I could have returned it, even after removing the charge. The seller also gave me the option of a discount. I decided to keep it as I got it darn cheap. It will be another winter project.
I'm still...

Just picked up this old muzzleloader. It was described as a factory coach gun (24" barrels), not cut. This always raises my eye brows. Anyhow, the muzzles touch together which generally doesn't...

I don't have the Whitworth but I have a Parker Hale Volunteer rifle which is an early gun. A 1/4" wrench is too small on it as well. Mine takes a 7mm.

I have slow rust blued about 6 sets of vintage double barrel shotgun barrels. I use a wooden surplus ammo crate that has a door/lid on it. I just hang the barrels in it and I hang a damp rag on each...

Apparently you can get arrow knocks that light up and I have heard of people using those for a bore light. Apparently they are cheap. I can't say for sure as I never tried them.

I'm looking forward to trying her out. Am I correct in understanding some of these rifles from factory are set up for 209 primers while earlier guns use #11 caps? I haven't even checked this one yet....

Thanks. I searched a few times and never saw that link. Go figure!

I picked this rifle up awhile ago in a trade and was just wondering if anyone had a manual they could copy and send me. I know, it's not a traditional!

Yes, it does look like the CVA Frontier and this Plainsman does have a 28" barrel x15/16". I haven't checked the twist rate yet. I've included a pic of it. I think the rifle was maybe shot a few...
