Nice Job!!
How were you able to drill the tiny ejection hole straight? I've always read that's one of the most difficult to get it straight and not have the bit walk.

Those are some sweet looking boattails!! How many bullets can you make before the PF punch begins to fail?
Thanks

supe47,
Nice looking boattails. What caliber are they?
Wonder why Corbin or RCE can't do the same. Would be nice to know how many bullets can be pointed before the punch flys apart. Maybe...

Thanks for your thoughts.
Been to Perry many times and shoot with many high masters. Don't know anyone that uses RBT's. Back in the 70's yes but even then the Sierra 168 Intl Boattail Match were...

Anyone know how Sierra, Berger, Hornady, Nosler etc. make the non-rebated boattail bullets? Only Laupa makes rebated boattail bullets and the design is from the '30's. Speer stopped selling the...

That's a Mity Mite press by Corbin from mid 80's. It's made of Ampco Bronze.
One thing that sucked with that model is you can't tighten down the die with the side bar in the way. Die keeps coming...

Thanks.
Do you know what the caveats are? I have a lathe & mill so I can make some parts. If the ram is different and the internal punches won't work the same that would be a problem.

Anyone know if the old M type dies from the Corbin Mity Mite press will fit in the Blackmon swage press? Those steel dies may do hundreds of thousands of bullets but the press won't. Already had it...
We just got a new style Lee 2 cavity mold and during a casting session one of the handle pins fell out. Our day was done as it took over an hour to find the pin. Both pins stick out about a 1/16 of...

Thanks for all the info!!
We have 4 buckets of range lead. Each one I could barely lift to get into the car. I'd figure it must be about 100 lbs each, not sure. Looking to get it done the quickest...

Found out my buddy has a turkey fryer we can use to smelt ingots. We got 4 RCBS/Lyman ingot molds but our 50# pot could handle more. Looked at Walmart at the 24 cnt muffin trays but all of them are...

Is this the one from Walmart you have? Doesn't say how many BTU. Is the hose and regulator long enough?

Thanks,
Just trying to use what I have. I have access to about 100lbs of range lead. Don't want to put that into my Promelt.

Hello,
I've used a 2 burner Coleman stove to melt lead for ingots in a 10lb RCBS cast pot. It takes awhile but it does melt it.
Has anyone used one of those Buffalo Arms 20lb 6" cast pots on...

Hello,
How tight do you feel the punch is going into the die with .005 difference between the two? Does it feel tight like a core swage die or is it looser? Does any lead bleed around the punch?

That is the press. Not many people have the room in their house/garage for a 20 ton press. That 6 ton press is only 30" high, only cost $69 but only has 4" of stroke. I'm only looking for ways to...

Then it's possible a 6 ton press would work with smaller slugs?

Midnight, thanks for the pics and dimensions!!

Kelblys rifles recommends using an index card wrapped around the barrel when putting a switch barrel in the barrel vise to hold it in. Works well and there's no marks on the expensive Hart barrels.

I'd love to see some pics along with die dimensions.
Thanks

I'm sure heating the slugs would help but what about the lube? How do you put swage lube on something 300 degrees? Won't it sizzle off before you can get it in the die?
Forum: Swaging
Interesting!!
I was hoping it didn't need that much pressure for a smaller slug. Harbor Freight has a 6 ton press for only $69 and is only 30" high. Thought that could be used for something maybe to...

Never saw the internals of the Hydro Press in person but the picture looks like the hydraulic cylinder connects directly to the ram of the press with no leverage added. ...

Very interesting!!
Would appreciate seeing the dimensions on those dies!!
Surprised you could extrude the wire with only 2000 lbs of pressure. That would indicate you don't need a 10 ton press,...

I've ordered from both On-line metals & Speedy metals and both are good. Last order from Speedy came really fast. I found you have to price each piece and compare. Sometimes one place is cheaper than...
