The cartridge name you are looking for is the 6.5-'06. It still wins the occasional match, and its ballistic twin, the 6.5-.284 is no stranger to the winner's circle.

You're THE man, JackQuest. Thank you, very much.
I know I can subscribe to this thread without making a comment; but, then it wouldn't get a bump.

OK, rather than posting a PM to BTS, maybe I can just get the answer here.
I seem to remember BTS posting a thread on his .40-08. I've tried every combo of search terms I can think of, but...

The size is good.
If you've got the 'letters', do we really need an "Other" option?

Your parameters also sound like 2-stroke motor oils for liquid cooled engines. (which is probably why you've already explored them). Once-through use, temperature should max-out at about 150°F and...

Everyone has to answer the "extra" questions now. The board has had a big problem with spam and bogus accounts, when the sys-admin announced the new measures he was sorry; but unless someone...

Except if you are interested in loading cast boolits, then all the info is right here.

You are correct, it is easily doable. One thing that you might consider is having the 760 rechambered for .308, then you won't have to worry about it again.

The press I started on was my father's RCBS Jr, and the linkage could be reversed to operate in either direction (apparently in the early 1960's that was a selling feature!). Your ram would have...

A good wash with saddle soap is a fine start, then begin treating it before it is completely dry. Neatsfoot oil is great; but beware of "Neatsfoot oil compound" it contains other stuff that can...

In a long bolt action, what does the Creedmore offer over the Swede or the .260?

Really? Or did you mean to click on the "pulling your chain" smilie?
(at 40 days before xmas, I'm kinda hoping that you're kidding)

I still like the first design.
But I can see where a 'standard' sprue-plate design would be less complicated in the long run.
The spring would make it self adjusting for temp-expansion, whereas...

I'd happily pay $10/lb plus shipping for a few pounds of CeroSafe, after christmas (50 days and counting!)

If they are the mid-length actions, I'd probably go for a .243 or maybe a .260 Rem or a 6.5x57 for the one, and for the second I'd think about a 9.3x57, or a .338 Fed.

Are these full-length Mauser '98 s ?
Then I'd definitely go with 6.5-'06 and .338-'06. Probably make the .338 an Improved design.

I love the sprue plate design, sure, if you flood the top in molten lead it'll gum up temporarily. And if you dump molten lead into your glove, it'll also make the process slow down.
Just try not...

$175 is a fair price, and I'd like to see it fast; but it's only 54 days until Christmas... It has gone this late, so I was kind of counting on a bit of a delay in getting this buy happening.

I could live with the 0.1" meplat. I could even live with fewer cavities and I don't need a top punch.
Swede does make some darn nice products; but right now his plate is pretty full.

If you're going to get it re-threaded, you can get it rechambered at the same time. .350 Rem is a pretty nice chambering...
