It's been a cpl of months now, but I finally found one of Springfield's SA-35's....the Browning Hi Power look-a-like... but our local emporium: KY Gun Co. wouldn't move a nickel on the MSRP however....
Another vote for Smith's M-69...the 4.25" bbl'd one. As to weight, it's within 1 oz. of my M-19 Smith. It's a 5-shot .44 Magnum, but really shines as a moderate weight .44 Special.
My regular...
Plus one on RCBS 98 swc; this one is as accurate as Hornady's superb 85 gr XTP, through my M-16 Smith and 3 different Ruger Single Six's. Sizing is critical, as always, but all of my guns like...
I agree on the trigger feel...my background revolves around the 1911 and Smith revolvers...all have superb triggers. That said, I shoot the 365 as well as any other auto in the safe. My 365 has...
Here's my latest...a Springfield SA-35 BHP clone. Great gun...good trigger right out of the box and accuracy that's a pleasure to see....~1" groups at 10-12 yds from a Weaver Stance with handloads....
I carry a Smith M-60 with a 3" bbl. probably 75% of the time when going concealed to town. The load is Speer's 135 gr Gold Dot in the .38 Spl +P loading. With good stocks on the gun, that load...
In my Marlin JM 1894CS, I've had great success with carefully cast and inspected Lyman 358156GC. My alloy is straight WW, air cooled, with an annealed Hornady GC seated separately from my lubing...
Good load in my guns as well, RJM, and not punishing either. I like it a lot for my 4.25" bbl'd M-69 Smith...best regards, Rod
I've had great luck with 8.0 to 8.5 grains of Unique (~1050fps) with any good 240 gr LSWC in Magnum brass. For both my Rugers, a Smith 629 & three or four M29 Smiths, I size to 0.430 with no problems...
Running the Yukon to Whitehorse, I would take a 1917 S&W in 45 AR and a 18" double bbl 12 gauge. 100 rds of 45 Auto Rim 250 gr bullets and 50 rds #4 shot, 15 rounds 00 buck, 15 rds slugs. Main meals...
Green Frog: Rintinglen has it right...they're Pachmayr's and I've had 'em for 25 yrs or so. They come up on Ebay from time to time but I don't recall where I got them....most likely a gunshow in...
Here's my Smith Hand Ejector, 4th variation, a 1938 build IIRC, as it's been a long time since I've had it out of the safe. The 3rd pic is my home built rig for carrying it afield.
BTW,...
This is a fine OLD thread wrapping itself around a fine OLD cartridge. While I'm not a fan of 'heavy for caliber' or in this instance, for the relatively small case, I find 35Remington's last line in...
My 5.5" Ruger Flat Top .44 Spl does very well with the old Skeeter load: 7.5 gr Unique with any good ~240 gr LSWC of Keith type construction...any of the Mihec copies of the H&G 503 design, or...
Here's one of mine, Tx...this M-67-1 has the Louisville KY Police shield on the left side...with a butter smooth DA trigger and Smith's usual superb SA, it's one of my favorites. I especially like...
Beautiful piece Tx...obviously well tended to through the years. Rod
Outpost 75's excellent advice: "Solid cast DEWCs give best accuracy in slow S&W twist with 3.5 grains of Bullseye, full charge not to be exceeded."
This is my standard target/carry load on our...
Rintinglen & Outpost75's posts regarding their Colt and Smith .32-20's, brought to mind a 1905 S&W Hand Ejector 4th Type in .32-20, that I found at a Louisville gun show in 1997. That day there were...
Larry, Many thanks for the response...I'll give it a try. BTW, using that 311359gc in my two Krags was a revelation. Sized 0.310", they didn't lead whatsoever, and accuracy with the issue sights (and...
Larry...how do those beautiful LSWC HP's function and what sort of accuracy are you getting? Sizing to 0.310" has worked in several '03 Springfields for me...is that good for M1 carbines as well?
...
RJM...thanx for the comment....and I really appreciate all your work keeping this good thread alive...it's usually the first I read on CastBoolits each day. Good work, Senor...keep it up. The Ac #9...

This just in: KY Gun Co. in Louisville had CCI Standard target for $9.69/100 today. I've got a pretty healthy stash of it in my .22 ammo drawer, but added another 1000 rounds. I've yet to find a...
I'm in the Single Six camp on this one...I have three Rugers; a pair of 4-5/8" bbl'd and a 5-1/2". All are wonderfully accurate, but the shorter bbl'd ones are a lot more convenient to pack around....
