I used to shoot with N/SSA and had a .50 caliber Shiloh Sharps Percussion Carbine. Great gun and I made my own cartridges from both nitrated paper and nitrated cotton sheet material, (old bed...

Here is a suggestion. You already have a .47.70 BC. Put a primed, unloaded case in the chamber and load powder and ball, slug, whatever thru the muzzle and find out if that combination will work. ...
Well, in my youth, I cast the boolits for my Colt Series 70 out of linotype and sized them to .452. I had fair accuracy out of it and little leading using both Lymans black graphite based lube as...

Has anyone tried using Balistol for patching lube?
I have a .54 Harpers Ferry Flinter I'm going to try out when I get back from Iraq and plan to use Balistol over any of the other lubes mentioned.

When it comes to using Black Powder in my SAA Clones, I prefer the bullets from http://www.whyteleatherworks.com/. They hold a slew of BP compatable lube and I've fired fifty rounds consecutively...
I find PMC brass great in .44 Mag, .44 Spl., and .45 Colt and .45-70. We never had a problem with PMC brass when I used to load commercially for an indoor range. Lead or J-word bullets were just as...

One of the best books on paper patching is by Paul Matthews titled "THE PAPER JACKET". It is published by Wolf Publishers out of Arizona. This is the book to get if you want detailed information on...
All the above info is right on for shooting in Auto pistols. However, there are a few of us that shoot the .45 ACP in Revolvers and use half-moon or full-moon clips to help extract the fired cases...

Other than pulling the bullets out of smokeless .22 RF, how do you get empty, primed .22 RF cases?

Does anyone remember when Navy Arms was selling a 14 gauge Martini Shotgun? They could sell it w/o FFL because it not only was in a oddball obsolete caliber but had a three pronged firing pit so you...
A close friend of mine died last December and another friend and I had the unpleasent task of cleaning out his garage. We found an old ammo can with around 1500 rds of military WCC marked 9x19 NATO...

I've been using them with my .44-40 bullets. Had a bunch of 210 grain SWC's in .429 and ran them into my .430 base guard dies and coated them in LLA. They worked great out of my 1866 Yellowboy...

Thank you gentlemen. I'll be trying out all the above when I get back from Iraq.

No! But I talk to my six foot tall Rabbit named Harvey when I'm casting. The conversation is a bit one sided, though!:cbpour:

OK, if you haven't bought the brass yet, get the Schofield Brass and 28 - 30 grains of either ffg or fffg and a 230 grain lead boolit lubed with a BP compatable lube and you will get yourself a mild...

[smilie=b:When I got back from Saudi in 2004, I bought an 1805 Repro Harpers Ferry .54 cal Military Rifle.
This Flint Lock Rifle shoots exceptionaly well with swaged RB's and REAL slugs. The only...
A pair of American Frontier Firearms 1860 Colt Conversions. Worst mistake I ever made.:killingpc[smilie=b:
Sounds like you want a flat nose on your boolit. Use a Truncated Cone style boolit and taper crimp them in the case. They feed better than a SWC and are as accurate.

Wouldn"t you be getting .45-70 or .450 Marlin balistics out of that chambering in an H&R Handi-Rifle?
