And wouldn’t reaming the cylinder chambers reduce the ledge in the chamber used to headspace the .30 Carbine on the case mouth? Possibly to a point where it might not...

Keep in mind that the chamber diameter in the hogleg cylinder has an abrupt change as it goes further in. This is because the .30 Carbine is rimless and hence headspaces on the case mouth.

I must admit, it seems a bit boneheaded of Ruger to put such a low twist rate (1:20) in a revolver. Especially when that leaves a lot of potential on the cutting room floor.

Interesting some should bring that up: “small case capacity”. The 9mm usually has bullet weights that range from 115 to 147 grains. And yet:

Doesn’t it seem a bit strange that Alliant recommends 9.5 gr. for a 250 gr. semi-wadcutter and Lyman recommends 4.8gr - 6.1gr for a 300 gr semi-wadcutter ?
