You did say not 100 percent were bad. Looking at the metal strips you do see some holes have more closure than others which are gapping. Your cute little stop setup could be lifting the tape away...

My 500 FreeChex III works nicely in a HF arbor press 1/2ton, right arm stronger now. That was a design goal from speaking with Charley some years ago. Very nice 3D plans of his tools are published...

Why waste your time with the flimsy coke can metal. I read the powder coating does everything you want in ending lead fouling by it self. -tj
