for 7/8 and 1 1/8 oz loads, I use 700-x and e3. e3 is a pretty fast powder and burns real clean.

I use small bolt cutters to cut the handles off of tankards and pitchers and aviation snips for everything else.

I'll pay up to $4 a pound. The thrift store near me has pewter quit often, so I just wait until I find a good priced item.

I usually mix 40:1 for my shotgun slugs. I use the calculator to determine how much pure lead and how much 63/37 solder bar to use to make 20 lbs of alloy

I usually only smelt the glass bottom tankards to skim off any of the sealant.
Ballistic Products provides some pretty good load data for both the 7/8 and 1 oz drive-key slug. I've used their load data for the 7/8 slugs and obtained really good groups at 50 yards (four holes...

I have a newer Lyman 314299 and it drops right at. 314 with Lyman #2 pouring at 690 degrees. By the way, I get excellent accuracy with this bullet out of my mosin.

dragon813gt pretty much summed it up. When I first started casting i was having the same problems until I increase my lead temperature to 725 and preheated my molds. I also want to mention to make...

It's lead oxide. If you decide to scrape it off, try not to breath in any of the dust. It is less dense than pure lead and can become airborne.

I just noticed there is also an Aaron metals scrap yard in Oakland that I'll checkout next week. Only issue is that it is in a sketchy part of town.

Wow... I need to take a trip over to Aaron metals. I recently went over to Alco metals in San Leandro, not too far from Rotometals. Alco wanted $1.50 a pound for lead bricks.

This is my go to powder for 38 spl target loads. Really accurate loads.

I use mostly Accurate 2230. Years ago I tried Win-748 but was never able to develop an accurate load for my mini-14.

My guess is that most of it is pewter. The birds are questionable. Most silver plate that I've seen if it has not been recently polished, will have an uneven sheen with bright areas and tarnished...
