I had a similar issue with Reading dies and the LnL. My solution was to switch to Dillon dies which have a nice wide and smooth bevel on the mouth of the die.

Thanks, yes I am using Hornady checks. Just found the group buy info on the Gator checks and will order up some of those.

Apologies in advance for what is (I'm sure) a noob question, but with the gas checked version of these am I supposed to seat them to the crimp groove like I normally would or is that a lube groove?...

See if you can find one of the Mihec .502-440 molds. Cast a boatload and then load them up fast with Lilgun or H110, medium with IMR 4227, or slow with Trailboss. Very versatile bullet and a ton of...

Dug out the chrono and tested a few loads. Cast with the hollow point pin, actual weight about 420 grains (lubed and sized.) Fired from the 8 5/8" S&W 500. 10 shot groups:

IMR 4227, 35 grains -...

Loaded up a few of these with 35 grains of IMR 4227, CCI large rifle magnum primers, and Winchester brass. A fellow 500 shooter that I know described this as a "mid-range" load, which I guess it is...

Mine weighed in a lot heavier (420 grains with the hollow point, sized and lubed.) Are we talking about the same mold?

Has anyone besides me NOT received their mold yet? One of the guys I shoot with lives one town over and got his a couple of weeks ago. I'm still waiting by my mailbox.

Is that confirmed? I've heard that as scuttlebut in the past but never seen any actual proof.

I have no strong preference either way and will follow the mob on this one. The extra 8 bucks isn't going to bankrupt me. (I hope.)
