At the time I bought my new Norinco for about $100, there were no new semi auto center fires anywhere near that price range, let alone a real battle rifle. Ammo at $2 per box of 20 was also a deal....

When the Swedes first arrived en mass I found a rifle first for $89, then a M-38 short rifle for $79, both in excellent shape, and good shooters.
The cheap surplus ammo back then also shot well. ...
I had one of the Spanish .32’s, grip felt like a 1911, Gaztanaga Destroyer. It was used by the French army in WWI.
Extremely unsafe, it slam fired one time upon releasing the slide and fired...

They’re both US military rounds, and one of the services, Navy, used M-1’s in .308.
Less powder, easy to get cartridge cases, and less recoil.
I see no drawback to a .308 Garand.

Don’t forget the Springfield, less expensive version, but the same action.
While a fixed sight gun may not shoot to point of aim with different loads, if all factors are the same, i.e., bullet weights are equal, powder load is equal, etc, the gun should at least group well....

My old eyes work better with glass, so I mounted a Weaver 4x scout scope, now quite accurate.
The mounting holes are pre-tapped under the rear sight on round barreled guns.
NOE, the mold...

What I was told was a small Allen wrench in the back of the pellet makes placing it in the gun easy.
Tried it, works great.

Some of the nicest are the Swedes, well build and very accurate. Mild recoil, and the Swedes took care of them, so most are in great shape.
I had both the 1896 and the M38, and really liked the...
The originals had the Colt royal blue which was a finely polished and blued exterior.
The new ones, stainless with a matte finish, meh.
I'd take one of the originals over a new one in a...

Question for Rossi 92 owners: do they still come with a plastic magazine follower, or have they finally gone to metal?
Mine, which is about 8 years old or so, came with a yellow plastic piece. I...

One mod I found helpful on mine was to change out the factory ejector spring for a hardware store or EBay Century C530 spring.
This not only lessens the effort needed to work the action, it also...

No offense to the OP, but I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

I still have a Carbine bought from a brother officer when he was getting ready to retire. He'd been a SeaBee in the Pacific in WWII, I think it may have been a bring back, but I can't confirm. No...
In addition to the cylinder stops being different, the smokeless powder guns had a coil spring, not a leaf as in the pictured gun.
That's a black powder gun.
Owl facing forward is one sign, but grips can be changed. The cylinder stops only having one solid side and the leaf spring, not a coil spring, are two positive signs...

Are you talking original '73 or a later reproduction?
I used Trailboss in my original with no problems.

For what's it's worth, the person I got this from told me it was Civil War military issue.
I have no way of verifying this, so it is not being described as such. Collectors with more knowledge...
