Thanks all. I'll try the hollow first, if I get much air, I'll melt it. I have a heater under my Lyman, I believe its drilled for the Star also.
I have been mostly using the Carnauba Red, but...

I'm convinced I need to move up to a Star from my Lyman 450. I was thinking Saeco, but I'm casting about 10,000 a year for competitions and practice. I don't mind the casting, but the lubrisizing...

I smelt in a turkey fryer, and do a 5 gallon bucket of WWs at a time. There were plans on here many years ago to make the turkey fryer a bottom pour, on the same principle at the Lee pot. Only cost a...

I have sharpie pen marks on my Lyman thermometer face for what where the molds drop right. They change, I think the thermometer has changed over time, because the marks are higher and higher.
My...
Ia, what expander are you talking about, a M die? And what is "wadcutter brass"? I have the M52-2 also, always wanted one, but are very pricy. There has been a bunch on Gunbroker lately, I bit the...
Thanks guys. The NEC is a 360, seems a little big. I haven't slugged the 52, but my other .38 I use a .358 in the Lyman sizer. How soft do you go for the M52? I normally use 4-1 lead/lino, or WW....
I picked up a Smith Model 52 for Bullseye competition, and want to cast this bullet. Any suggestions?

Red Dot, I was into trap shooting then. I still have an empty 15 lb keg that I use for a waste basket in the loading room.

I use the RCBS swag, one thing that realy helps is to put a little lube on the button, I use the Imperial sizing wax. When the "up" stroke starts to grab, re-lube it.
One of these days I'll buy...

I had one quite a few years back, a Saginaw. A handy rifle, but didn't shoot as good as I expected, so I got rid of it. Then a couple years back or so the CMP had a Carbine match at Camp Perry. I...

We will hang with you... by seams I thought you meant wrinkles, other took it to mean leaking between the molds or flashing. We need pics.

I use both also. Walnut for cleaning out the powder/lube fouling, then after resizing I use corncob to absorb the lube and put a nice shine on them.

If your mold isn't up to temp (by other means than pouring lead in them) it will take quite a few pours to bring it up.
Did you clean the mold real well using carb cleaner or some good oil...

I don't know what they used originaly for the GP11, but I bought the surplus (actually new Russian) 4895 from Jeff Bartlett a couple years ago and it works great. I shoot the Rem 165 bulk CL bullets...

I have one mold that has the opposite problem. Its an old H&G 130 and drops WW at .454. Its a real chore to get it though the 452 lubrisizer.
I thought maybe it was made for a long Colt, but I...

Lots of good info there Barry, I learned a some things and re-remembered some more.
I have a couple Garands, they look nice, but don't shoot where I aim them. For Garand matches I shoot the '03A3...

Love his shows also. He has the voice that any DI would kill for.
He shot at Camp Perry a couple years ago, I was on commercial row there in one of the venders buildings and he walked in by...

I didn't have any luck with range lead. Our indoor range is used mostly for PPC and National match course bullseye, so it pretty much .45 bullets. I took four 5 gallon buckets out, it had sawdust or...

I'm on my third sleeve of Wolf large rifle, and have had no problem. They are a hair larger, but the pressures I run for 1000 yard competition I welcome that because the pockets soon open up...

I have a Pact electronic and an Ohaus beam scale. They are always dead nuts together.
A couple things about the electronic.... keep it plugged in and on all the time. My Pact is around 20 years...

I think we have all had the problem of not getting all the cutting oil off a new mold. I'm a big fan of carb cleaner, it washes it out real good, then evaporates leaving it extra clean and ready to...

To answer the questions.... I have three calipers, one dial, two electronic, and they all say the same thing. I have some old comercial cast D&J bullets and they measure 452, I have Zero jacketed...

Hmmm, I replied to this right away but must have got lost in the "zone".
I am using WW and 1/4 lino/lead.
I don't know why that would mater, if I drop larger than 452 than whatever alloy I'm...

I have the .452 sizer die, but it drops at .451. Did I get a bad one or should I go to .453?
Is it possible to pick up a .001 by honing with some valve grinding compound?
