done correctly you will get a great knife ;-)
I usually put a piece of 1084 within my cable damascus blade.

I suggest to put a known high carbon steel in the center as cutting edge.
Maybe a piece of file steel.

Speed Green or its equivalent
or
LOTAK or its equivalent.

Now days I use Speed green, works a bit better IMO
