I wondered, but w/ the initial trials I think I will be OK w/ .452 in the SIG (I haven't had a 1911 in many years). I do have a factory crimp die on my setup and it has solved some prior...

Thanks very much for the link.
I've shot truckloads of butcher stock ranging from 40 lb goats to 1200 lb steers with many different service pistol calibers. Most numerically in the 80-250 lb...

Thanks. That's a good recommendation. Lee .452-255-SWC. This was a last ditch for that mold as it throws a .452 bullet which will not shoot accurately from my Ruger.
Hand cycling isn't any...

So as grizzly expand into our area Woods Workers are thinking more and more about the 9mm's and .22's and .22 mags and such they are carrying. I've killed truckloads of butcher...

Thanks. I was going to ask about what diameter ball and looks like you just saved me the trouble. :D

Thanks fellows.
Have any of you slugged the bore of your .54 T/C? By removing the breech plug or by some other method?

OK. Been handloading since the '70's, case-forming, etc, but no substantial experience w/ smokepoles. (Dinked around a little).
I'm curious if a mould exists that would cast a "Mine"-type boolit...

Hate to tell the purists, but.....
The Miroku guns are way better built than the originals.... :kidding:

I've read of that.
I think it's called the Intelligent Option.
Not having that option available to me, I went with 8x57!
I did have a lot of 8x57 laying around, in my defense. :D

What I was curious about when I started my endeavor was whether the primer pocket dimensions would be altered. They were not. The 6.5 Jap was a little trickier due to the semi-rim but I wound up...

I get it!
A few years ago I decided to figure out if I could make Jap 6.5 out of 8x57. Yup! What a pain, but it can be done and I did it with a cobbled together set of dies, without requiring...

I do believe you are mistaken, but can't fault you for why.
The 9x54R Russian as used in the Medved {"Bear"} semiauto rifle was IIRC actually a 9.3 caliber. It's similar but not identical to the...
I should have asked;
Have you ever tried to push a ball/wad combination thru the chamber and barrel? How much force does it take?
You guys could be totally correct about the safety issue. I do find it interesting that I cannot find a single load using the .690 RB and a WAA12 or similar wad w/ petals left on.
From what I'm finding out, it is no good to shoot these with whole wads. I cannot find a single source recommending a load where the petals are left on {and surround the ball}. Checked and it took...
At first I tried it but in two throws I ran out of lead.
{Exaggeration}
Now that I've done it "my way" (complete with...TIME...and clippers) I think I'll try it your way!!!

I failed to follow up. I cast a bunch. I degreased the mold in acetone and pretty heavily smoked it with a candle and it started throwing good pellets after maybe three or 4 casts. Just as...
Thanks guys.
The issue I was mulling over was the initial resistance caused by entry of the ball/wad into the forcing cone and whether that might cause a dangerous pressure spike. I'm actually...
RE: loads for the .690 Lee RB and WAA12 wad with petals left on.
With ball seated in wad, I AM able to push this thru the chamber and forcing cone into the barrel. There is a bit of stiff...
That's some great stuff!
Too bad on the 00 buck. That's progress for ya!!
