I replaced the ejector spring with a lighter spring and it fixed mine. It also drops brass at my feet instead of 30 feet away.

That powder is probably from late 60’s to early 70’s. I just finished off a pound of 3031 from then with a price tag of $3.25.
I’ve had mine for a couple of years now. Never a hiccup. I don’t think you can find a better 1911 for the money.

For a hunting rifle I prefer the Skinner. I use a tang sight on my 93 Marlin which is primarily for target work. It is a little awkward getting use to placing your thumb along side of the sight...
I have the s&w 500 X frame grips on mine. They tame the recoil and give a little larger grip.

I agree, the Burris fastfire III is a good way to go. I’ve got 2 of them. Very compact and rugged.

Seems that anything that is half as old as me is considered "Vintage" now days.

I've got a 22 RF rechambered to 22Khornet and it works just fine

Fantastic find. I'm very jealous. I think you can shoot it without hurting the value. (I know I would have to)

Can't wait to see it. I'd love to find one in that condition. I've got 2 1893's in 38-55. Both used and abused. One is getting a barrel liner installed and the other has a new "old stock" barrel and...

Most firearm thefts are "Grab and run" (for quick drug money). Any safe is better than no safe. That being said, buy the best you can afford.

I wouldn't be too concerned about brass now that Starline is making it. I shoot the Max and the 44. Both are good shooters, but the Max is my favorite.

Remington recently did a run of 25-20 ammo and they seem to be priced anywhere from $59 to $75. Luckily I've still got a fair amount of brass and a bullet mold.:castmine:

Nothing wrong with getting a newer one, but I certainly wouldn't stop shooting the original!

All of my old guns eventually become "project rifles", but they are worth it. It seems that the only rifles that interest me any more, are 50 to 100 years old. May have something to do with my...

It's the law of flat surfaces. Any flat surface will collect stuff! My bench can be clean one day and a couple of days latter it is covered with stuff! I have a table that I set up to clean guns and...

I also have the Taylor and Co. version. Everything 50target says is true of mine as well. I haven't tried black powder in mine yet, but plan to this year. Recently acquired an Ideal 3118 mold which...

I've got a 45-70 that I haven't spent enough time with yet, but got 2-3 inch groups at 100.

I'd probably have it set back and re-chambered. Shame it got out of the factory that way.

All lever actions are special too me. I have marlins, winchesters, savages, and brownings. Guess i'm just a sucker for lever actions.:D

I hear 4759 has been discontinued. I haven't tried it, but a lot of folks use 5744 for cast loads. I use 4227 for most of my cast bullet loads.

Looks like waiting paid off. Very nice 99. Let us know how it shoots. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
Mine's a takedown and isn't near as pretty as yours, but it shoots well enough and I've taken...

When I got my 38-40 back in the mid 80's brass was hard to find. I lightly lubed 44-40 brass and ran them through the 38-40 die. Worked great. Just don't use too much lube.
