The Peters Stahl conversion was a pricey unit in it's day. I remeber it being sold by Champions Choice or Champions SDhooters Supply. The workmanship was ecelletn but I cannot vouch for their...

I used Weaver bases on the barrel and some high offset rings on the scope as per the attached photo.

If you want an all steel 22LR conversion unit that works well then go for the Tactical Solution 2211 unit.

I had a Peabody-Martini What Cheer in 40-70 PWC and loads similar to that in 40-65 Win. worked well for me.

I have always used smokeless powder in my old single shots. The idea of scrubbing the bore in the bathtub after shooting black powder never appealed to me.

Cannot comment of the Henry but the Marlin 39 was the first gun I ever purchased. It still shoots well after more than 50 years.

The old Holywood dies were and still are excellent products. I have two sets - 222 Rem and 30-06.

The only time I used gascheked bullets was in a Winchester Model 1873 in 32-20 which had a less than shiny bore. The gas checked bullets grouped very well while the plain based bullets did not.

Thanks for the reminder, I will. I thought the .226 to .228" diameter was 22 Savage.

Does anyone have some load data for 22 WCF they would be willing to share. Irecently acquired a Win 1885 hi wall in 22WCF with mint bore and would like to load using either the Lyman#225438 or...

The Stevens Favorite action is very weak. It was designed for the low pressure rimfire cases. I would not convert it to 25-20. A better option would be to have the barrel relined to 22 LR. I had a...
I load the old Lyman #429421 at the other end of the spectrum with Trail Boss in 44 Special cases at ca 700 fps.
I have used the old Lyman #378248 sized to 0.377" with SR-4756, SR-4759 and XMP-5744 in a pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I prefer the SR-4759 or XMP-5744.

mike in co,
While I do cast bullets for the rifle calibers for the psitol calibers where I shoot a lot more I prefer to puchase.
The 2005 Alliant reloaders guide lists a maximum load of 4.9 gr. Bullseye with the 124 gr lead bullet in 99 at 1165 fps and 32100 psi. It appears a bit hot to me. I never loaded 124 gr lead bullets...
I shoot a powder puff load in a much newer original Win 1886 11.2 gr. Unique behind a 405 gr. cast bullet. Never checked the velocity but it has a rainbow trajectory but is very accurate at 50 yards...
I used to fireform 40-50 Sharp Straigh brass out of 303 British or 30-40 Krag using ca 5 gr. Bullseye and Cram of Wheat as a filler with a wad of toilet paper. Start with a fast burning powder on the...
