At both ends lol:groner: Really one does not need that hot of a load depending on range and what you are going to use it for . If you are young and doing it for fun I understand. Been there done...
I agree with the load data with one exception to use a standard large pistol primer instead of a magnum primer with either H-110 or preferably W 296 unless in below freezing weather.

Thank You as I thought that I should have had taller boots reading some of there stuff lol. But I came here asking as in the grand scheme of things I have not been reloading that long and I try and...

This is from Terminal Ballistics Research when I was researching 35 Whelen A/I.
Performance varies with age. The older the projectile , the more it will have naturally annealed, while the core may...
Forum: Cast Boolits
There you go the Ranch Dog designs were designed for Marlins chamber. The 350 Gr is a great boolit and accurate if you do your part. That is if you feel 3/4" groups at 100 yards accurate from a GS :)

This will be long winded but for myself 45-70 brass is not cheap and I hope to make it last as long as possible.
I use the standard RCBS die set. I did try the cowboy die set but other than looks...

I did not find the Marlin 1894 ss in .44 Mag to be very accurate after extensive testing. If you feel the need you can look on the forum as I wrote all about it I think around 2007 or so. I feel the...
Forum: Cast Boolits
You did not mention what boolit you plan to use but the Ranch Dog design made by NOE now in 350gr was made just to fit the Marlin 45-70 chamber and is hard to beat. I would look up posts with Ranch...
Who me lol. Sorry as I have not used the powders the original poster asked about. But I will say to do a search here on the forum and you will find enough good information on the 358 Winchester to...

I have to agree on the Lee 310Gr for the 45 as it was designed as a hunting bullet.
Just a little information for the .358 Winchester. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?165486-Quick-Load-help-for-my-358-Win-Cast-Cartridge

As the saying goes it depends. If going with cast I do not feel it will make much of a difference due to the speed that we drive the boolits at. But if using jacketed then you may loose 1OO FPS or so...

Not sure how your reply is a hijack but since I have both a 358 Winchester and a 35 Whelen Ackley Improved I will have to say they are both great rounds. But for hunting in South TEXAS for Deer and...
Forum: Hunting with CB's
Well as we know what an animal eats will make a difference. The ones we will harvest usually have a decent supply of corn and some wheat along with there natural forage.

Fat what Fat lol. I have not taken a Hog in South TEXAS that had fat lol. So there were no ribs to eat to speak of. Mainly back straps and hams. We usually cut them up and throw a ham or two in the...

You can save some coin by using the kit made by Hornady.Same thing as far as I know. I use it with a uniflow on an RCBS Piggyback set up. :)

Yep and they are Magnum Contour (Heavy)1 in 14" Twist (good all around Twist) and 24" long (longer than needed for the .358 Winchester).
A couple of reasons why I like others have said that if...

Yep the .358 Winchester is a horrible caliber. ;)

As far as I know the Boyd's Thumb hole stock is the only design that has enough meat on the fore end to enable one to fit the 358 Winchester barrel.
Forum: Factory Rifles
You are very welcome. And yes I was amazed at the accuracy.
I will say however that if one is able to have there factory rifle re bored by JESS I would do so as the Shaw Barrel is a Mag contour...

As you know that is the beauty of the .358's as one can use anything from a lead round ball and light pistol bullets and boolits up to around 300Gr in bullet weight. All the while being able to load...

Ok how in the world did a 358 Winchester thread turn into a 358 MGP Special thread?
I would think that if the 358 MGP is a great round for something than maybe it should have its own thread.

This might also catch you the bullet I did the best with was the Lee 310Gr RNFP/GC with a healthy dose of W-296 and a standard Large Pistol primer Not a Mag primer. 44 Man here on the forum helped me...
