Good Evening;
I can definitely relate. I had to wait almost 30 years before I could start hunting, and I've had tags the past 4 years (including this one), and the closest I've gotten is a...

Good morning;
Well, I went out yesterday, and had the whole place to myself almost. No other hunters, no deer, only the occasional squirrel and bird. The day started off with light rain, about...

Good Morning;
This is what I opted for. $10 sled, $5 of 5/8" rope, and a HD bucket with lid. I pack the extra cloths in the bucket, snap the seat/lid on, lash it to the sled, and then carry the...

Good Afternoon;
Thanks for all the input. I was thinking that unless it was really raining hard, I'd be well off to get out there. As someone said,
On the other side:
This was what I've...

Good morning;
No luck last weekend, so my next chance to get out is tomorrow (11/22/2013). Problem; it started raining yesterday evening and won't let up until tomorrow night. It hasn't been...

Good Morning!
Thanks for all the insights, as well as the laughs. While I'd like to shoot something close to the vehicle (you can't really call a Rav4 a truck), I think that everyone else that is...

I'm a "late onset hunter" and I'm wondering how far you can drag a deer before the meet gets damaged?
Hunting on public land, I'm going to be walking about a mile in to where I...

Good Morning;
Since the forearm on my Encore and Contender mounts directly on the barrel, I'm not inclined to use a sling as a shooting aid.
So, has anyone tried it, and does it help or hurt...
Forum: Single Shot Guns
Exactly, a combination of all three. Here, I'm defining efficiency by the smallest amount of power and lead used, with the maximum potential to be "enough gun" at mid-western/east coast hunting...

Good evening;
So far, in all the hunting I've done (not much, sad to say) I've always carried the rifle I've been using. Since a lot of where I've been hunting is on public land, I'm hiking a...
Second. That's the only LP I've ever used, and I've never had a problem.

Is this with a MAXI or REAL boolet?

Forum: Single Shot Guns
Honestly, I was really just curious what everybody thought. I'm in the 357 mag-max camp, because my contender will shoot both. I've also considered the 32 caliber range for the same reasons. The...

Care to share that 357 max load? I've been trying to work up a combination like that for my contender.

IN is a straight wall state, and 357 mag is as small as they'll go. If it was different, I'd be all over a 6.5 or 7 TCU.

Good evening;
Good on you! I picked up a TC New Englander for $25 in similar shape. About a week later, it gave me a 1" 3-round group at about 50 yards.

Good evening;
Just because I'm curious, what do you think the most efficient round for a single shot is? By efficient, I mean: legal for at least deer sized game in most states (although being...

Sit on a milk crate. That should put the bench at eye level. As for the gun itself, I would do what you can with a recoil pad and adding weight to the gun. Heavier gun = less felt recoil.

Oh just say you got it with a 56,000,000 grain boolet and be done with it.

Thanks for all the work on castpics, but I do have one problem. I can't find any info on 7-30 Waters. I've used all the variations I can think of, and no joy at all.

Good Evening;
Donald, thanks for the info. I'm kicking around the idea of getting a new barrel for my Contender, and I wanted to see what kind of load data was out there; thanks for passing yours...

Good Morning;
What am I missing on the Castpics page? I have tried to find data on 7-30 waters about every way I can think of, and I have yet to find a listing at all.
Help!

"Need" and "want" are the same emotion.

Yep. I first heard about the idea of 3D printing, or rapid prototyping (as they called it then) about 20 years ago. It is definitely the wave of the future (particularly in terms of medical...
