That was my first thought some kind of oil but it’s dry to the touch not a spec of dust or anything oily.

So I smelted this down. It is lead but some of it has an sticky oil like substance in it.
I haven’t tested it for hardness I thought someone here might know that it is.
Thanks

Thanks for sharing the tricks and things you guys have tried. It's a huge help to me as a new caster. I often pass up large chunks of lead because I just have little idea how to cut it or melt it in...
To seemingly answer your question, a 223/5.56 case trimmed to 1.74" will be fine, as long as everything else is in order.

The Cabelas in Springfield, OR is no gem. I quit going there after watching them be rude to multiple people. In addition there reloading stock has become super limited. PRE COVID, it seemed to...

Reviving an old post.

Thanks much.

Man those blue bullets really look good! What powder did you use for that batch?
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Shoot us some photos, That's a great Idea I would like to do something like this.

That's a good point Charlie brings up however, most people have success just PC. Try a 200 without lube and see how it works in your gun.
Thanks for in input, I've had the same question. Its always nice to hear what guys are having good luck with.
Titegroup is a great powder for 9mm, and in fact, one of the most commonly used powders to reload 9mm.
The standard rule of thumb is to start under the load data you have and work your way up....

What is cheap for pewter?
2 dollars a pound?
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
You are the man thanks for the help I couldn't seem to find much.
Has anyone else here used it?
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
I've found some empire pewter, but it not cheap.
So I don't want to buy it if it's not good for casting or has some other junk in it.
Anyone ever used it or melted it for bullets?

Like others have stated, If I could go back and tell my younger self which press to buy I would say " Get the 1050!!!!"
If your going to be loading for the next 10 years the cost really isn't that...

I've had both and I still have my LnL and the Lee is sold. Hands down I would go with the LnL, consider how long you are likely to reload 5, 10, 20 years. The press is not that expensive. Buy the...
Anyone able to tell me about this mold.
Really I'm looking for valve and the quality.
I cast pistol bullets only and have no interest in rifle casting at this time.
I looked over their website...

I use it like tin and it works great, super silky pours is the only way I can describe it.

I've used a chisel and hammer, but find a sawzall works best and I'm not wasting time.

Is there a large range of hardness for COWW, I think some of mine are much softer than others.
I have the same issue my bullets come out 150gr instead of 147.

I PC or Hi-Tech coat and both ways I like my bullets to be at least BHN of 13. It's my experience that I get less leading and see to be very consistent in weight. Super soft bullets never really...

Stuff is coming back SLOWLY, you can get powder easily, primers are still tough and expensive. Brownells & Midway had SPP for $75 plus hazmat.
Pistol bullets can be bought without much issue, some...
