I shoot that one with Trailboss. I don't recall how much, but it's very accurate in my Rossi 92 and also in an Uberti Model P. I size them to .358. They're also great fun with black powder.

I think you guys are right...I'm going to upgrade the beer to pizza and beer! They really are a great bunch of guys.

I shoot air cooled wheel weights from my Garand. I experimented with the load until it would reliably cycle the action. I haven't chrony'd it yet, but I don't have any leading problems. If recoil...

Allen wrenches. I don't know what the deal is with them, but this year, I've picked out 15 or 20 allen wrenches, all 1/4", all really cheap. Maybe they come with some sort of kit that the shop is...

Got a call last week from my buddy at the tire store. He wanted to know when I was going to come down and "take this lead off his hands". I hot-footed it down the next day and he had two five...

I shoot lead through my M1 (Garand). I've kept a close eye on the gas system and, so far, so good. Don't have an AR, so I've never tried that.

This is what I, too, find. I end up with a fairly clean pile of steel clips to take to the metal recycler.

I don't want to derail this thread too badly, but I'll add my two cents' worth about suburban lead smelting. I do mine in the garage with a hood and fan system to pull the nasties outside through a...

I'm down to a couple of hundred pounds of wheel weights and maybe 120 pounds of soft. That's certainly not enough (I'm only 50), but my buddy at the tire store always has a five gallon bucket...

I picked up a 5 gallon bucket from my buddy at the tire store here in Boise on Thursday afternoon. I'm about 3/4 of the way through it and so far it's about:
15% steel
45% clip on
40% stick on...

As far as accuracy goes, if I can knock over a steel turkey at 100 meters, I'm happy. I get the impression that the Big Lube types will do the job.
As to how far can I shoot the .38-40, 150 yards...

Thanks for the replies, fellas.
Chill Wills, your question about fouling control is part and parcel of my situation. I thought that I'd give Dick Dastardly's Pearl Lube a try, since he claims...

I've been loading .38-40s for my Colt Lightning rifle, circa 1884 for about a year. I don't shoot it a lot, but enough that I'd rather be casting my own rather than buying them.
The question that...

I'm thankful that I have a friend who runs a tire store.
The last few 5 gallon buckets that I got yielded around 85 pounds of clip on ingots and 30 pounds of stick ons each. I would say that zinc...

I can't help but feel that this has already been addressed, but I'll be jiggered if I can find what I'm looking for. With that in mind...
I've cast up about 50 Lee 309-200s for my M1. I slugged...

Classic Arms is a funny place. They've been hit or miss with me. For the most part, I haven't ever received anything anywhere approaching on time and they don't seem to have any contingency plans...

I shoot the 180 grain FN from the Lee 6 boolit mold in my Rossi and also from my Cimarron Model P. Over 3.6 grains of Bullseye, both guns are right on the money.
I have a Marbles tang sight on...
