I have the same set up but with a Lyman peepsight. I have taken several deer with Hornady Graet Plains bullets, 425 gn. With 90 gn FF shoots very accurate. My dad jst took a doe on Sat with it.

I have one of each. I d say two 650's beat a 1050 hands down. Unless you really need to swage Military primer pockets on your press.

All Lee expanders are poorly polished compared to other brands so they work your brass like a file.

There shouldn't be any problems with the 650 if the press is kept clean and the priming wheel advancer or anything else hasn't been bent.

Now if we could only mount an audible alarm when a preset number is reached that'd be great. I could use it on my Dillon too.

I own Lee products too, a limited amount. That's because I don't have the time and patience to put up with them. I may also fall in the younger side of casters, the ones that just started families...

Still, Lee is a Chinese quality American manufacturer.

I changed alloys again and I am getting bullets that look dull and a bit like they were sprinkled with flour. I tried lowering the temp and it didn't solve it. Is the lead dirty? I did flux it twice.

I've been experimenting with different alloys lately and I've noticed how differently they behave based on the composition. Can anyone enlighten me how Tin and Antimony affect the alloy melting point...

Magma was right. They said the lead was too hot and it was being sucked out of the base. I called them today and they said to lower the temp on the alloy. I did down to about 635 on the PID. And...

I called Magma today. They said to try lowering the alloy temperature(set at 690 right now). So I'll try that first, then I'll try getting the mold hotter.

I will try with a hotter sprue plate. The thing is that with the old alloy there were no problems. I kept things the same including temp. I have a laser thermometer that I use. I keep it at the same...

palmenti, that's a good set up. But I am to lazy to handle every bullet like that. I trie d coating them and hand tumbling in a box but they still stick to each other.

The bullets that Ares and other companies sale are fully coated, including the base.
