Yep!
I started in metallurgy & explosives chemistry in 1958 and reloading & bullet casting in 1978....
64398Hmm, everyday?
Well, some days I don't have a pocket to carry in (might explain why my tan line looks like a 1911 in a shoulder rig),
but mostly a TL-29 (from about 1965) and a "Mel Pardue"...
My old Howa .30-'06 seems to like the Lyman 311284. Nominal 220gr, turns about 217 with my 92/2/6 alloy. Chrono' shows 1850 over 27gr IMR 4227, 2300 over 42.5gr IMR 3031, and 2490 over 56gr IMR IMR...

It looks more like "15 02" to me, but I'm not sure of the significance.

some organic things have a high ash content, so even if the carbon all goes away there is still stuff left, usually grey - if you fluxed the mix at all, you should be good - toss the crud!
Oh, as...
Lyman molds are good, SAECO also. My 1911 seems very happy with a SAECO 265 (which produces just such a "step").

Yep - I have turned a few grass-rats into flying pizza with a 125 TNT in the '06 using 3031. One load, 49 gr., turned out 3091 fps in my old Howa (20" of rifling) and 52.8 (MAX PRESSURE LOAD!) made...

I have torn down a couple of X-ray rooms and it is, indeed, very pure Pb (to avoid secondary radiation, amongst other things). The last one was 2.5x2.5 foot, 1" thick sheets and my wife is still...

Dang!
Now ya's has me lusting after HP mold mod's.
After 30 years of solids, I'm gonna have to cough up some shekels and try this!

To build an alloy from scratch an empty pot is needed. Otherwise, no.
Unless you leave the sucker out in the weather, it will sit happily for many moons.
(and if you remember/document the existing...
I use it mostly on my trailer hitches, but I tried it on bullets, too. The spray sure made it go on easily.
I'm not sure what advantage moly' gives bullets and am less interested in some of the...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Just to be sure I understand, you are speaking of an alloy that is made from 3 parts WW and 1 part Linotype?
I sometimes read things that are not meant, but I *do* know alloys.
Thanks for your post...

Only a few:
.22 - for 3 weights
.30 - for 8 weights
.355 or thereabouts - for 7 weights
.358 - for 4 weights
.41 - one weight
.44 - as needed
.45 - for several ACP and Class-III
.50 - as...

I'm old.
I'm not, however, defenseless.
Formerly a Tae Kwan Do master, currently a decent pistolero.

Handload is ok.

OK - today was 1200 158gr. .357 Mag. jobbers for my sweetie, sized .358, lubed with local mix (approx SAECO Gold) from an alloy of 85.77/3.86/9.57/0.8

BWAHAHAHAH!
Sorry, but I couldn't resist. The image is confounding.
I *do* "sky-clad" metallurgy, but Nadine? Whoo-hoo!
Ah - assisted opening is ok - thumb opening is better when being beaten by the gestapo ((I live on a large farm, nude mostly, so I seldom see a knife as other than as a tool)
Boolits
Er, sorry ... web speed was not my friend...
I'm *not* a "knife guy" but I own several - my best pocket is a 1960 camCo TL-29, 2nd is a benchmade (bought only when I thought I'd lost the...
I tried it on some notoriously sticky moulds in my Magma Eng, Master-Caster with terrible results when I sprayed or dabbed it on.
In the interest of experience, I soaked the moulds, submerged in a...

I am familiar with the 8.6 + .29*Sn + .92*Sb calculation, but does anyone have notes on factors for Ag and As? Search engines have not turned up much useful, so far.
How about calculations for...
I do not expect that 26 gr. load to be a problem. The listed OAL is about 0.04 less than you say you measure. You should be able to seat that much deeper without pressure worries.
Forum: Cast Boolits
Yep - Temp today is *1/2* what it was a week ago, so the Magma machine is heating, as is the Lee bottom pour. I'll be dipping for the SAECO 265-F91 4-banger to make .45 ACP and button pushing for...
