On a .223 No.3 I think I would re-barrel it with a .25-45 Sharps. I could use the plentiful .223/.556 brass. Also could cast 60 gr. to 85 gr. cast for economy. I don't see too many .25-45 Sharps...

How about a .256 Newton on the Ruger No. 1 action? Not too many people have one laying around. I have seen exactly one, built on a No.1 and it was very effective on prairie dogs.
I do like the...

Elmer made me do it. I had JES bore out a Ruger No.1V in .22/250 to .338-06. I can't remember if it is 14" or 15" on the twist. I mostly just use .30/06 donor brass.

What is your current No.3 chambered in? What do you want the new caliber to be?
JES re-bored and re-chambered a NO.1V in .22-250 to .338-06 for me. http://www.35caliber.com/8.html

A relative of Davenport is my neighbor and he collects Davenport firearms. I have sent him a message about your .22. He has a gun shop and is a gun smith, imagine that.

I bought this rifle at a sportsman's auction. I think that it has be restocked with a more modern 39a stock that Marlin checkered. At one time Marlin did some custom work on request. The other 39a...

Is this a typo? I can see where a 38-55 case with a .359 bullet would not be fat necked, most of mine use a .379 to .380 bullet.

I have a No. 1V that started life as a .22-250. I sent it to JES and had it re-bored to .338-06. I now have a heavy barreled 24 inch hunting rifle. It is accurate enough for elk and bear so far...
