That powder is probably from late 60’s to early 70’s. I just finished off a pound of 3031 from then with a price tag of $3.25.

I have the s&w 500 X frame grips on mine. They tame the recoil and give a little larger grip.

Most firearm thefts are "Grab and run" (for quick drug money). Any safe is better than no safe. That being said, buy the best you can afford.

I wouldn't be too concerned about brass now that Starline is making it. I shoot the Max and the 44. Both are good shooters, but the Max is my favorite.

I hear 4759 has been discontinued. I haven't tried it, but a lot of folks use 5744 for cast loads. I use 4227 for most of my cast bullet loads.

When I got my 38-40 back in the mid 80's brass was hard to find. I lightly lubed 44-40 brass and ran them through the 38-40 die. Worked great. Just don't use too much lube.
