I will agree with that in theory. Muzzleloading and archery seasons were originally inteneded to give the hunter using "primitive" weapons the advantage of getting into the woods before everyone...

If you want it, BUY IT! I have a No 1 in .375 Ruger, and it has become my favorite rifle. It's accurate, light, compact and a dream to carry in the woods. Recoil is not severe even with full house...

Who makes that saddle ring to fill up the hole on that ridiculous safety on the Marlins? Very good idea. I've been hunting with lever guns for 40 years without a safety. Don't need to start now.

Don't try to stop the addiction, just roll with it. Both awesome guns! Congrats!!!

I have unintentionally done the same thing. Couldn't figure it out at first. I never use that safety, only half cock. It's stupid to have a manual safety on a lever rifle.
I've never read anything bad about them. Here's a link if anyone wants to look around. It's a cool website. They have a lot of stuff that you're certainly not going to find anywhere else.

My wife (I love that woman) just ordered me a set of shooting sticks from African Sporting Creations. Can't wait to get them. Anyone else ever used them? I'd like to hear comments if you have. Thanks.

If the vent liner has a screw slot, then it's one of the older ones. I have a used Renegade also, and the liner was stuck when I got it. I soaked the breech end of the barrel in boiling hot soapy...

Two T/C Renegades. One flint, one percussion, both .58 caliber. The range I go to is open one, sometimes two weekends a month, and one of the Renegades always goes. 50 - 100 rounds a month.

Load them up and try it. Should be interesting to find out.

My Marlin 1894 .44 Mag GG is a great shooter. Short, lightweight and almost perfect for walking thru thick stuff trying to flush a hog.

Just because you keep saying it, doesn't make it true. I have taken Smith and Wesson and Ruger revolvers, and various rifles including muzzleloaders, out of the safe that have been sitting for 20+...

I have never had a problem with cleaning or rusting when spraying WD-40 into the bore after cleaning, or with any other gun rusting in storage. A couple of patches with alcohol on them, and they come...

OK, could you explain why? I've been using WD-40 on all of my guns, including muzzleloaders, before storage for the last 40 years. I must be missing something.

To answer you're question very simply - YES! I actually practice reloading it quickly regularly, since it is my primary hunting gun, and I've gotten pretty good at it. I'm an avid "watcher" of...

I tried to find a prefit pad for it. I tried Limbsavers and Decelerators. But, the prefit pads didn't fit my stock, at least not well enough to satisfy me. So, I'm shooting it as it came. If...

She certainly IS some kinda wife. She puts up with my passions. I would love to have a M77 Hawkeye African in .416 Ruger. If they aren't out yet, they will be soon. Followed closely, I would bet, by...

How durable is that finish? Does it scratch easily? It doesn't seem to me that it would adhere well to the smooth wood and metal. Is walking thru some thick brush while hunting going to scratch it...

I like the double set triggers on the Renegades.

I have been told the same thing, but mine has the original 1970's hammer and frizzen and it works just fine.

Jack,
Yep! Corbett, Hungryland, Dupuis and Allapatta are the places I go. Out of the four, Corbett is my least favorite. You're right about the crazies. I never go out there for opening weekend of...
Forum: Muzzleloading.
Thats a very nice rifle, and it does look to be unfired unless someone replaced the frizzen. Stock looks new. If I had the money I'd bid on that one myself!

Keep an eye out on Gunbroker. T/C flinters don't come up real often, but they do show up. That's where I found mine. Get a good "like new" rifle and then you can get a Green Mountain drop in barrel,...
