I'm just trying to figure out a, more or less, drop in expander plug that'll open the cases enough for my carbine.

I used .3cc (Lee dipper) of Trail Boss to firelapp my 9mm Sub-2000.

I only shot them into my bullet trap at point blank range, but they did easily exit the bore. Barely a pop. Bolt also barely...

What diameter is the Makarov expander? The Cowboy .38 S&W is supposed to be .361. But the again, the Cowboy 38 was supposed .357...

I tried a RCBS 38 Cowboy expander plug in my 9mm die. Besides being too long to flare the mouth, it was only .3564 in diameter. .358 bullets swaged to .356 in the case.

Heavy leading resulted in...

9.2 lbs.

Yep, Trail Boss worked well in my 5.56 MVP bolt action. 4.6gr was sub-sonic with 55gr JSP. Just bought two more jugs of it.

Just got a Lee Bator mold too. But I have to wait until my 1-9 twist...

One mug was aluminum, but the other unmarked one turned out to be pewter.

Made my first pewter score.
Everything was marked pewter, except for the mugs. I'm pretty sure one is aluminum. The other is glass bottomed, but completely unmarked.

Broke down one weighted...

With a tight patch, the bore felt nice and smooth.

Slugging, post lapping, was much less balky too. The slug measured .357, by the way.

I'm happy with the results...

I searched around for recommend loads for fire lapping a 9mm carbine with a 16" barrel. Didn't find any!
