I would recommend slugging the bbl, I had about a hundred rounds loaded up before realizing my boolits were .003 small. Congratulations on a really fun rifle.

I use 8gr of unique cardboard wad tamp with a pencil fill with 7.5 shot a cardboard cap and a crimp seems to pattern tight.

405 gr 458 plain base lee boolit over 14 gr of unique. I've had good luck to 100 yards with light recoil out of an 1895 Marlin. Has anyone else found a favorite cat sneeze load for this cartridge?
