Wow, thanks for the great info. That is what I was hoping to hear. I am trying to get a mold that will drop good plinking bullets for my Ruger Blackhawk .44 Special and my Marlin 1894 .44 Mag. ...
I am looking at buying my first custom mould. I am looking at a .44 cal mould in the 200 grain range. Could some of you more learned folks give me your pluses and minuses of each brand. Things...

I agree. I don't see a problem if you can give it your undivided attention. If you can't, save it for another day. It isn't worth the risk of making a big mistake.
Here in Minnesota, rifle powder is available, but pistol powders are nearly non-existent. .22lr is very hard to find as well.
Great info, I appreciate it. In looking through different manuals, another question has arisen. Is handgun data for the .44 mag interchangeable with loading for a rifle? Thanks again.
Thanks for the info, guys. I should have mentioned that I have some AA-9, Unique, Universal, and TrailBoss on hand. Anyone using those powders in this application?
Howdy all,
I am sure this has been hashed and rehashed, but I can never find what I want using the search function, so I hope you will indulge me. I am getting a Marlin 1894 with Ballard...
Good point. I was just wondering if they were too large for the bore. Are you using .44's from NOE or just NOE molds in general? Curious if the larger diameter 200 grainers work in a rifle (or...
Thanks. Do you size them? What do you size them down to?
Hello all,
I have some questions about NOE molds. First off, they list all of their .44 cal molds as .432. For those of you that have these, do they actually drop at that diameter? I know...

Thanks for the responses, guys. If I was going to use a stick lube, which commercial brand would you recommend? Thanks again.

Hello all,
I am fairly new to casting and have a question about what lube would be best. I want to cast plain base bullets for a .44 special revolver and a .44 magnum rifle. If both are...
Hello all,
I have a 1894 Marlin in .44 Mag and I have a question. I am wondering how to adjust loads for a magnum primer as opposed to standard primer. I was looking up loads with Hodgdon...
Hello all,
I am in the process of acquiring an 1894 Marlin in .44 Mag with Ballard rifling. What cast boolits and loads are you using for general plinking and fun? I am looking for loads and...
Hey guys, more questions for a new cast bullet shooter here. What are your favorite loads for using in both a revolver and a Marlin1894c? I am thinking of using plain base 158 cast bullets and...
Wow, thanks for all the info, guys. I think I am going to start looking for an 1894c in .357. It sounds as if it is a bit more forgiving and easier to work with. If anyone has any further nuggets...
Wally,
It sounds like the 1894c may be the way to go. What bullets and powders do you recommend? How big do they need to be? What speeds should I seek? Thanks again.
First off, thanks for the info, everyone. From what I am hearing a heavier bullet would probably do better, while still in a light, plinking load. Would an 1894c in .357 have a better chance at...
Wally, thanks for the reply. I am sorry I meant that the Lee mold was a roundnose/flat point.
Hi everyone. I have read over 40 pages of threads on this board about cast bullets in the .44 Mag and am slightly more confused than normal. For the sake of argument, lets say I have a Ballard...

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. There is a ton of great information in here. I really appreciate it. I am sure I will have a lot more questions if the future!!
What are the group's thoughts on getting a six cavity mold as opposed to two 2 cavity molds? I have read that using two molds will keep them from getting too hot. Is this a better reason to go that...
