Just bumping this back up, I'm still on the hunt for a Hy-Tek alternative other than PC.
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
I'm wondering if anyone has found any alternative polymer coatings that are similar to Hy-Tek bullets but by a different company? I'm not looking to powdercoat just seeing if anyone has started to...
Thanks for the tip, I'll turn it down a bit and see what I can get out of it.
I've got my old bottom pour and handles for the molds. I'll be going through 24 2 cavity molds to get them all uniform. As I said it's gonna be a long process but in the end will be worth it.

Changing alloys is an option but the supplier I have is by far the cheapest and 91-7-2 is the only close option for bullet making.
Looking for .5 a grain. 147 grain 9mm drop at 123.5 average + - .5 of a grain 180 grain .40 weigh 179.5 same variance. I know I'm being picky but don't see how that's a bad thing.
I've posted a question in the alloy section about how my molds are dropping slightly under weight bullets with a certain alloy. These are coated using Hy-Tek and then used and sold for IPSC...

I agree with you about no difference in weight for any practical purpose... but we're talking IPSC shooters. I know cause I am one, personally as some one who trains allot and shoots so long as the...

Thanks, I think that might be my best option at the moment. Next time I'll be a bit more careful when ordering alloy, take this as a lesson learned.

Should mention molds are already groove less.

Donnie is the one who has been holding my hand more or less with the set up, he recommended and himself used 92-6-2 for Bayou Bullets. Figured why rock the boat. The idea of cutting with pure would...

Yup, consistency is gonna be the key, I already have one load of the 92-6-2 alloy and things are going well. As its the IPSC market I'm going for I'm selling 124gr and 147gr in 9mm and 180gr in .40....

I've started a small bullet company to help feed the local IPSC shooters with coated bullets, in my search for slightly less expensive lead I found some significantly less expensive but instead of...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Thanks for the info, I'm trying to start a small scale production company to feed the local guys and if all goes well try expanding. I'd like to be able to use it as is to save time and with using...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Looking for some input on this alloy, found a place that sells a hard alloy of 92 and 7 antimony. Considerably less expensive than hardball 92,6,2 , wondering if anyone has experience using something...

Question about ovens for you guys. I've been looking for a comercial pizza oven and found a lincoln 1301 locally for a good price. The convection has what looks like a dead spot in the middle but...
