It could be that I was kind of joking too

You guys post it up here, and the price damn near doubles....
Just as I’m looking to upgrade my setup at the club.

I would love to have that unit. I figured it would be 220 though which is a no go for me.

It must be standard fire brick, because the best I remember it was under two dollars each. It came from a local Brickyard.

Sorry for the sideways pic. 14lb ingots for reference.

As has been pointed out, retaining the heat s important. I do that with a fabricated pot with 3/8 walls and a 1/2 bottom. Then, I firebrick from the ground to the top of the pit, capping with steel...

Using the fire brick was the best move that I made. That and cutting a top to fit around the pot . Drastically cut fuel use

I use a 14lb ingot mold and have 14 of them. Currently making 30 more so that I can empty...

You said “large amount”, but then you said “1lb ingots”. That sounds like a very long and inefficient process with maintaining a large amount of molten lead.
I run a 250k burner with a stand that...

I'll second what Frank said. They need some heat. We sized about 4k in one session with ours. It took a bit to get going and I think it was a flow and air bubble problem.

I have a Ballisti Cast Mark X. Currently in storage.

Do you want 5 tons? 10? I can do either. Mostly checking interest. $1.10lb or so.

10-12 bhn. I add 1% tin and it casts great 200gr swc for 45 acp. You can probably do without the tin, but it casts better in my machine.

I have a large supply of isotope lead cast into ingots as well as container form. I also have significant range lead from an indoor range. The indoor range is made up of 22 caliber rim fire, and 45...

Your drum will be an improvement over what you have. However, i'm going to suggest that you buy firebrick and fire brick around it and then cut a piece of steel as a cap and let your pot poke...

Inside that pile of fire bricks is a big pot. 14"dia and 18" tall. Home built. 700lbs is what I think I calculated it at. With a full load of cold lead, with about 100lbs molten in the...

A big part of doing this efficiently is firebricking around whatever pot you come up with. We were melting huge batches, probably 500lbs plus, faster with a firebricked pot than we were in our small...
Forum: Casting Equipment
Ours was doing the same. More heat and some tin took care of it. I know you have cast a lot of good boolits, and we did as well, but this made it 100%. The PID is not calibrated so you can only...

I'll add this too. The way we bricked it or for another yet to be determined reason, there was a good bit of heated air kicking back out past the propane hose. Enough that it melted the plastic...

I didn't take a picture, and I think mine is the same or similar to another here. I spec'ed a 1/2" bottom to retain heat and avoid warping. Warping is not conducive to sealing. On that bottom is a...

Each one is 14-15lbs. We should be melting again soon.
