That is exactly right. I have a 40cal flare/trim set. The first operation is the flaring, and to strip the flared jacket off of the punch there is a bar with two alignment holes and one in the center...

That's not bad. On par with Hawk Bullets, 45 pounds on a spool for $135 + $15 for S/H

Let's cut to the chase. There is no way to make this a profitable work-from-home business :) The cost of extruded lead wire is $3/pound. Once RCE stopped making jackets, the prices are outrageous....

You won't like swaging then. Figure a Corbins S press is $750 and a 3-die set is $650. Lead wire is $3 per pound. Jackets are $0.10 to $0.20 each.

Started using 5.7 brass as 30cal jackets. I have a 0.257" core swage but to use unmodified 5.7 brass I'd have to at least expand the neck ID to 0.260" or more. Let me know your recommendations and...

You will need to draw down 9mm brass in at least two steps. Also, anneal before each draw. You will quickly tire of the monotony and the need for tremendous effort. Also, as MUSTANG pointed out, the...

There will be a lot of shrinkage as it cools down from 2000F :drinks: The mold will have to cast an oversized product. That is the biggest problem I see.

Also, even type M tubing would be overkill for pistol jackets. I just took some measurements on jackets I have on hand to measure the thickness at the mouth:
45cal 0.58" 0.012"
38cal 0.65" 0.013"...

It's not an ideal solution. Drawing down fired brass yields an inconsistent product. Most noticeably around what was the case rim. Roll it across a table and look closely at it. Part of the rim will...

For 30cal, how about this:
Lob off a length of 5/16" copper tubing. Copper gas check. Run through a custom Lee bullet sizer. I have a 0.305" job I had them make for me. Draw the tubing down AND...

The RCE 357 set will produce 0.3565" after core seating. Of all the RCE sets I have, this is pretty consistent. Half a thousandth of an inch smaller diameter.

This whole situation is bringing out the worst in people. No reason for it to be $199. Just someone being a jerk.

That was my entry into swaging, 20 some odd years ago. I bought a CH4D #101 set in 44cal. Used both aluminum and brass 40S&W. Made a jig to hold 10 casings in my vertical mill's vice, to then trim...

Dig through your 22 brass. Should see some that is slightly longer than the usual 0.7". I have made 62's out of those. Lead right to the tip (after point forming). Those brass weigh a little more and...

I've made 550's out of 50cal jackets. Use the punch from the 50cal set in the core seat die of the 550 set. Every once in a while the jacket will split. The ones that don't, end up with an odd...

Heat is what wears out barrels. I have shot tons of swaged aluminum and nickel. Aluminum CCI Blazer makes a neat shower of sparks.

That's excellent. I already have a couple of Corbin point form dies I use with a 5/8"-7/8" thread adapter and Walnut Hill punches. I'd like to pick up a few more point form dies for different...

I use a ball bearing for this exact reason. It takes two passes. I adjust the die so that the first pass gets the brass 60%. The second pass pushes it safely out of the way of the next brass casing.

LOL, funny you mention that. I regularly cull dorked-up brass from my reloading process. I gathered up enough such 45acp brass to turn into 405gr 458's for the SOCOM. Get a load of the...

I have asked Lee for custom diameter sizers. Using a 451 sizer will be problematic. Due to springback, the jacket will probably be more like 0.456!!!
For 45acp brass to be made into jackets for...

Aye, I make lots of 'em with RCE Walnut Hill press and 357 die set. First, draw down the 9mm brass (0.394") to 0.354" in the draw die. I don't trim the brass. Add lead wire sufficient to bring the...

I'm mostly a Walnut Hill enthusiast with a bunch of RCE swage sets but over the years I've picked up a few CH4D sets as well. Here I have some 312's in various weights (80,85,88) using RCE 0.47"...

Copper gas check
Dab a touch of solder in the floor of the gas check
Sit the length of tubing therein
Heat up the pair until the solder...
