there are various 209 systems in play, does the primer fit into the breech plug or fit in the bolt nose? if it fits into the bolt nose ( Badger Ridge system) I made a tool from a toothbruse to help...

power hacksaw blades are easy to shape and last quite well.

I made a two sided wooded box that breaks down for transport I fill it with clear sand , you can easily get bullets by sifting thru the sand.

I have adopted and use the Lyman 525 slug exclusively in all my 12 ga. guns.
The best group I got with my older Savage 210F was off of a bench with bags. (I've posted this before)
I also changed to...
my guess is the nitro card is preventing the slug from obturating fully/correctly. I've had this issue with my smokeless muzzleloader when the bullets didn't obturate I always got keyholing

I converted the 742 to a pump. I put the 760 barrel on the 742 receiver. I need to use a slide and pump forend also changed out the bolt head. Worked out well just has the extended slot in the...

I swapped out a 760 barrel on a 742 no problem bolted right up ( never removed the extension just used it complete with the barrel). not sure about the 740 but I think it'll probably be the same.
I too have had better accuracy with the 525 slugs ( bases filled). and I have had the wax stay intact even after impact.
Got out to shoot these the other day, wads held together nicely (no blown...
Ok here goes, here's how I load these slug loads. It's not the only way and maybe not the best way but it's how I do it and I've had pretty good success with it. I don't have a roll crimp (yet ) I...
The Lyman 525 is my go to home rolled slug that I initially used with my Savage 210 F rifled slug gun. I got more that satisfactory results with this combination.
I picked up a 20 in. rifled barrel...
I've had good success with 32 grs of Herco , Red WAA wad and bases filled.
I never noticed a problem with using standard primers ie. win209's for shotgun load especially in my lyman 525 loads, but I know for a fact with my smokeless muzzleloader using 209 ignition the...
the softer lead obturates easier which results in better accuracy
I've had great results with 32 grs of Herco and the original WAA12 red wads.
I took the Savage 210 out for a spin today. I love this slug and wanted to see what kind of groups I could get at 100 yrds. today. The group today fit nicely into a 4 in. circle , plenty good enough...
bin using wax as a filler since I started with the lyman 525. all of my slugs retained the wax .

Got out today on one of those dog days of summer. Decided to take out the old Savage 210 just wanted to see if the scope was still on.
I needed a slight adjustment, the first shot was high and left,...

I just cut sections of old wooden mop handles, drill and epoxy and you're good to go.
I've recovered slugs from a sand back stop. it's 50/50, some of the found slugs still have wax in the cavity and some don't. I think they stay until impact.
I don't know specifically about the 220 but my 10 mlII needed to have the front base screws shortened to allow the base to be pulled right down to the receiver. Just had to grind one or two threads...
savage 210 rifled barrel (bottom target is 3 shots).
Got out to shoot again today, I really wanted to see if filling the hollow base was necessary with these slugs. The first loads I tried were with the recommended Blue Dot load and since I didn't have...
I'm using these with a Savage 210F everything is stock except I filled the hollow stock with silicone caulking to add weight and help settle the recoil.
