I'd go with the Martini .357 you already have.
My .357 is a Rossi single shot, and I love the ability to shoot 900fps 125gr FPs for small game and then 180XTPs to drop pigs and deer.

Thanks for that, much appreciated info.
I've loaded up a few hundred rounds using tissue so I'll keep an eye out for this.

I use one ¹/⁴ square of cheap single ply toilet paper as filler in my loads, seems the majority of it burns up in the 14" of barrel and the roll I bought is enough to load many many rounds.

My most fun rifle is a 14" suppressed Marlin 7000T, "zip zip zip"
Very very close second is the Winchester 67, such a simple and good looking rifle.
I'd love to have something like it in .38spl

Cheers mate, yup its a dang nice place to live with plenty of small game, goats, hogs and deer kicking around as well.
180gr XTPS certainly do the job

The Rossi single shots are a bit heavy but I'm really enjoying mine after a little work.
I cut and threaded the barrel to fit a suppressor, .38spl really is proper quiet now with no more felt recoil...

Personally I'd be using the .22Hornet barrel you say you have.
But seeing as youre asking for something different, I'd be looking at the 256Win Mag.
Plenty of parent brass and projectile selection...

Heck that is a great looking little rifle, I have long been a fan of the Winchester 67 single shot .22lr and have often craved one in a larger caliber like .22 hornet or .25-20.
I'd love to see more...

I'm a fan, although I've never owned one the few times I've fired one and watching the deadly effect it has on rabbits and possums has me hooked.
My goal is to one day use a liner on some old school...

Hahaha I'm trying to dodge a similar conversation with our neighbors regarding the local deer population, sure the neighbors think they're cute feeding in their yard but here on our farm, we see them...

Yeah I found my old blued/walnut Zastava wasn't coping with the amount of hunting I do so I decided to get a stainless/synthetic instead.
Here in NZ they come in a 1/9" twist and factory threaded...

Im a fan of the CCI HVHP shorts.
Its fun to just load up my BL22 tube magazine with somethibg like 21 rounds and go off hunting rabbits and possums

Finally, how does it function?

And that's it, as you can see it fit's much better and with a trimmed down magazine release lever as well, the rifle is actually...

This allowed me to slide on the floor plate, so then I tried it in the rifle and found I couldn't quite lock it into the rifle as the floor plate was a fraction too thick.
By sanding down the face...

Right I'm committed now!
I needed something for the floor plate to slot over and it just so happens there's this handy ridge right where it's needed, I measured down 3mm and made a cut all around it...

So yeah, every body wants one and there seems to be a few who have tried to make flush bottom metal but I've only found one reference to cutting a magazine down and that was on the 6.5Grendal forum,...

I only load for the .223 now although I still have all the gear for my old 7.62x39 even though I no longer have a rifle for it.
But I've always had a fascination with smaller rounds and ultimately...

Sounds like fun, and something I definitely have to try in my .223

I picked up a new stainless Howa Mini Ultralight in .223 last week and chucked a VXII 2-7x33 on it, next I'm looking for a suppressor for it.
Pretty nice and smooth action, but that stock is...

Great suggestions lads, I'm loving the idea of ice targets and know your limit.
Something else we used the other day was some cherry tomatoes, they explode pretty good.

I've had 3 different Winchester 67s over the years, one scoped/suppressed, one stock and one boys rifle.
Loved all of them but let them all go as they didn't suit me for hunting.
But I have often...
