Just read this all the way back to the beginning. And for a reason. Anyway, my 45-70 firearms are an Officers model H&R repro ( my first), a beautiful Marlin 1895 blued sporter ( 22”, 2/3 tube,...
This mold was intended for cowboy action (45 colt, 45 S&W and 45 cowboy special) for minimum recoil, save lead/costs and to cycle in lever guns. Remember in 45 caliber guns, a round ball weighs...
He kinda hits the nail on the head. But I own both 32 S&W long and 32-20 revolvers. Maybe shoot the 32-20 more just because I shoot cowboy action and have a Win. 92 in that caliber. With that...

Marlins eject the empties forward and on the right side. Win. 92 ejects 12 o’clock high. Marlins have the top scope mounting option as well.

I have a JM Marlin 357 made in the mid 90’s. Good gun. I know someone who has a later late Rem made Marlin 357 slicked up for cowboy action and it’s wonderful. And I know someone with the new...

So the above Lee 170 grain gas check mold seated where the crimping groove is located won’t chamber as the micro groove rifling is engaging the forward ogive of the bullet. Sure seems odd that a...

I got him talked into Lee’s C309-170-F with Sage gas checks.

Ok, update. He had a lot of fun shooting 311041 sized to about .310. We never put it on paper as he had too much fun shooting this discarded air tank at 100 yards. 10 grains unique.325505

Thanks everyone. I only have Lee bullet sizers so it’s .309 or .311. .311 works in my pre-64 94 Win.. I think I’ll start with .309 first for his gun and see how it works.
Forum: Leverguns
I have that mold, but after you size it are you then powder coating it? That’s gonna add a bit of size to the bullet. At this point I may make him some sized to .309. These will be water hardened...

A friend just shot his 336 for the first time in many years. Factory ammo. He liked my Win. 94 30-30 with 311291 175 grain load with 10 grains unique for about 1450 fps. My neck size only reloads...

It’s probably been 15 or more years when crows used to love my trash. Hard to believe they could knock over a plastic trash can but most trash days I had to go out and pick up trash in my yard...
Back when I first discovered I couldn’t get blue dot, I found out 800X would work for my 2 1/4 oz. 10 gauge loads using less powder. I’m good for awhile and it appears I can get 1 lb of 800X now and...

That was my first Marlin bought in the 70’s. I still have it. It was a deer killer then and now lastly a cowboy action gun. Full power 44 mag. in the rifle feels about like shooting 30-30. ...

Wasn’t the original 94/22 a steel frame? And it did come apart like a Marlin.
Got it thank you. I’m good. So the only downgrade I might have heard was its accuracy. Has anyone here shot one and noticed that to be true?
One is coming up for auction. 45 colt and it’s the 50th anniversary model with wood case. Kinda feels like a S&W 25-5 except the cylinder rotates right.

If my bore is .364, I would still need hollowbase bullets in my 1901. If I recall, .358 bullets fell through the barrel.
Forum: Leverguns
This sounds like an undersized bullet/oversized barrel situation. Measure the diameter of your bullets. Lead bullets normally are .358 diameter. Slug your barrel. It should be .357.
I say...

Yes, I’ve used that bullet in 32-20 as it has a crimp grove for my Win. 92 rifle. Worked fine but I’ve discovered that Lyman’s 311008 115 grain sized to .314 has enough tension to hold firmly in my...

Krags can have oversized bores. If you haven’t slugged your bore, start with at least. .311 cast bullet.
Forum: Leverguns
Larry beat me to it. You can do the same by partially resizing the case. Maybe just run the sizer deep enough for where the bullet will seat. I’m using fast powders ( 700x) for 45 colt cowboy...
