If it shoots high, you can go a bit lighter on the boolit, like a 200 grainer, it will print quite a bit lower. You can also get another rear sight blade and file or mill it down a bit.
Enjoy...

Same here as most of the rest of the forum. I'm shooting mostly cast boolits in centerfire. I've got several thousand .22's but am hesitant to use them until I'm able to get more.
I built a boolit...
This is just my opinion, but driving a 300 grain boolit at 1150 fps from a 41 tells me that your loads are generating a tad more than 14,000 CUP. I'm guessing your
loads are probably approaching...
Here is what 2.7 does for my gun. I worked up this load and found it t
I had the same problem with H110 in 44mag. The problem was solved by applying a heavy roll crimp to elevate ignition pressures. A magnum primer would also be helpful.
Yup, JB weld is truly God's gift to the shade tree gunsmith. I've used it for everything from making trigger over-travel stops, to fitting up the top lugs on a 1911 (which works very well by the...
Here's my 52. She grouped best with very light loads 2.3 grains of bullseye and 148 grain wc's. this load barely functions the action.

Hello doctorggg:
I was just examining several bores as I read through your post. Leading seems to be a function of load, bore and lube. The most general rule of leading for me seems to be lube. I...

I think I'm going to perform an experiment. I have one of the lee 170 gn flat nose molds that I could mill a bit off the top, removing the GC step. This will reduce the boolit weight a bit, but it...

Hello all:
Maybe some of you can shed some light in the subject of GC style boolits that are used without the gas check.
I have loaded cast pistol boolits for years and have almost exclusively...

I'm doing the same. I made an 18 inch box out of plywood. I put a steel plate in the back, then fill it with old newspapers or sheets of scrap plywood. Then a fresh sheet of plywood or chipboard goes...

I'm interested how these work in your XD. Please post how they work. I'm using the lee 200 grain rf in all my 45's now it not only feeds but shoots well too. Thanks

It looks like the old H&G 200 grain wadcutter. The bullseye shooter standard. However, be cautioned that they may not work in an XD.
When the action opens on the XD, the breech block drops low...

When I was a young fellow of about 20, I didn't make as much money but shooting was pretty affordable then and supplies were plentiful. Wheel weights were always readily available at scrap yards for...

I seem to be the only one shooting these days. The weather has been beautiful here in Oregon for the last three weekends. Normally the woods are full of shooters on nice days like these. But the...

I choose to hand lap. There were two places that I could feel constrictions. The throat and under the rear dovetail. The throat constriction was by far the worst.
I chose hand lapping because it...

Hello all
I just got around to working up some cast boolit loads for my 1894 marlin in 357. I'm working with 38 cases and 158 grain boolits. The rifle seems a bit finicky about finding the sweet...
4.3 grains of titegroup under a 200 gn rnfp cast. Gives about 840fps and 1.5 in h groups.
1986, Walmart had a colt series 70 government model in the glass display case for $325, colt blue. I had just bought a redhawk for about the same price the week prior, and told myself I couldn't...
It's interesting that many of the guns mentioned are vintage, and are no longer in current production. Maybe the sexy high capacity military style pistol's charm is only skin deep, while the...
Impressive, 1" groups. However, just a word of caution, pressures can really spike when loading heavy boolits in short cartridges such as the .45 ACP. I bulged a barrel in a BHP several years ago,...
OK, so here's a suggestion, take it or leave it. Seat deeper in the case. With a revolver, there's no problem seating Nagant style, with the boolit shoulder below the case mouth. I use this method...
