With all the additional replies, figured one final test. 4 lbs lead plus 4 lbs "indoor range stuff" that I used a heavy Tamp to smash up. Firing up now to very hot.
UPDATED 1 hour later:
Thanks,...

Yep, that looks like the plan.
Thanks to all that chimed in!

They specialize in AR15's (adamsarms if I recall). You can see a few casings in the bucket photo above that appear to be .223/5.56. Guy told me they only tested the guns with lead jacketed and did...

Perhaps, but the weight leads me to think maybe not.
A quart sized container of it weighs about 10 lbs though, and that seems to be including at least some spent casings.
For reference, a...

Came across a barrel of around 400lbs of lead that was from an employee of a gun makers indoor test range.
It appears they treated the indoor range with a greyish chemical and collected all the...

Never could get good accuracy with Ruger Blackhawk revolver in 30 Carbine even at 10 yards. Maybe 4" groups? But the M1 30 carbine rifle is a tack driver at 50 yards (rail and pistol scope added).

Heads up. Just received an email this morning and it appears white label lube website security has been breached, with email addresses at the very least exposed. A link was included from email that...

Update.
First time back out with a few new loads to try, and now shoots great, thanks to some of the tips given here!
Plain Base gas checks fixed the Lee 340g to now be decent at 50 yards. Cast...

It's not a normal Lee made expander that Wolf sells.
Wolf has them in several sizes and it was what corrected the soft lead black powder Lee 405 hollow base .459 boolits from being sized down by...

Using the larger Lee expander for 45-70 from Wolf (?). The Lee PTE for the 458 socom uses the 45-70 part number, so Wolf perfect fit and .001 larger than stock.
Thanks for the push. Ordered some...

Thanks for the replies.
I guess a couple things that have me confused are, the 500 S&W, a much higher pressure cartridge, shooting the same powder in a gas check 440gr boolit at 1350fps without a...

The 12" accuracy is at only 50 yards!
First some details.
AR 16" barrel slugged .457, 1 in 14" twist.
Lee 457-340F, sized .459, Powder Coating (from smoke) and sized again to .4585. 13.7 BHN. ...

Nothing changed here since switching to PC as far as alloy, but am able to skip the gas checks now.
Basically down to two alloys, pistol and rifle. Gave up on oven heat treated before switching to...

The Lee SE1699 38 S&W expander (PTE) works great. I think the main reason to use it is for depth, not just diameter. Expands the case much deeper than the 9mm expander does, perfect for 9mm cast...

Using the Lee PTE for M1 30 carbine, and it only needs the die body slightly enlarged with a drill. Works perfect for 300blk.

It would be wise to pickup a normal 12v inverter either way. You could then use it to do your own testing, as well as have an option to use something like a car running to produce power as a last...

With well over 100,000 rounds shot, 99+% reloads, the only squibs I've seen, twice, is from commercial 22LR. Just pointing this out as somehow reloads get a bad rap while commercial usually gets a...
Had similar results with Kel-tec 9 and 380's. Pretty much 5 feet max. A true belly gun.
But have also had excellent results with better 380's and 9's. Little S&W Bodyguard 380 could hit small...

After seeing another poster mention they did not stand up boolits when baking, and experienced no loss of accuracy or any additional cleaning required, even though they were not as pretty or...

With PC'ing, you can do it all. While it is baking, you won't be wasting time operating a lubesizer, so you can use your hand for other things.... Like clicking on websites.

That reminds me of another savings. Can push the powder coated 155gr 300BO boolits past 1900fps, without any gas check! Zero leading or issues. Nothing clogging gas system. Skipped GC with 30 M1...

I thought 100% the exact same way!
Then I had a new caliber, 300BO, and for the tiny investment in some powder, thought I would give it a try, expecting it to require a lot of work to get it right....
