You might try The Boolit Exchange under Swappin' and Sellin' to see if someone would pour you some soft HPs to see how they work.

Have found Blazer Brass boxer primed and reloaded with no problem but all of the AL cases have been Berdan primed meaning that they have Berdan primers!

Lyman # 45 has 168 gr cast and 195 cast in .38 Special so it can be done although I think maybe the SP might limit penetration in .38 Special which might be kind of border line to begin.

Cancel that bevel forward of the crimp groove. I was looking at a deformed boolit. It looks like the Magma only 158 gr.

I have the box and it says 158 gr 38 cal TC.

Similar but these have a bevel starting about .09 forward of the crimp groove back to the crimp groove. Mirror image of the bevel back of the crimp groove.

Figured it out. Either the metal ejection port cover is worn or the track it rides in the receiver is worn. They only make a plastic cover now, maybe that's why.
