I have a new, maybe used once used 2 cavity Lee 312-160 TL mold and a new .309 push through sizer. I can take pics for you if interested.
I have the Lee mold, actually 3 of them, and it does drop small, .457 to .458. It has to be lapped to .460. Once lapped you can cover 5 of them at 50 yards with a quarter.
The Lee 429-200fn was rather easy doing this method. I next tried it on a gas check design. The only difficulty I had, though following instructions, was tapping the slug for measurement. Not sure if...
I reread the article and the original poster explained how to expand all the bands. Apparently I missed it the first time. I drilled out the bullet bases today and as I get time I will work thru all...
JonB,
I should clarify. I know when lapping a plain base bullet the center punch will be expanding the base because that is the area being hit. I'm curious if when using a gas check design will the...
I just came across this sticky and think it's great. Not having to re-cast slugs all the time will cut down on a great amount of time and the ability to do an instant check of progress is awesome....
I've bought and sold quite a few molds on ebay. I'm pretty much done buying. I'd say most that I bought were not worth buying and the seller had no clue how to accurately describe them. I once bought...
I read part of it since you will still posting it a little at a time. Will check out the balance of it latter this evening. What pictures I saw were very good in showing what you were doing. Who...
Freebullet,
I bet a lot of guys would appreciate that. I have about six old style molds and one of them refuses to stay put.
So what is the better way for the spring washer, edges or center down? I can look at the factory setup to see how they have it. Always have been curious which was the better way.
I just got a few new Lee molds with the alignment pins and I need to remove the sprue plate to polish everything up before using them for the first time. This has probably been brought up before but...
I had a little time today so I tried the mold to see what would happen. The mold actually did pretty good. It acks more lIike a steel mold than an aluminum Lee mold. Oncd I got it to temperature it...
I like the idea of JB Weld. Might try that. I also thought that if I could get the brass stud out I could get the top of the mold drilled out enough to accept a washer deep enough to keep the sprue...
I should have been more clear. The NEI mold has a sprue plate stud and lock nut. I'm not sure if the brass stud can come out easily or if it is glued or set in.
I just picked up a used NEI aluminum mold for my .44. Its in pretty good shape although it does have a few issues. The pins need to be set which I have done on other brands. Is there anything special...

31106Just picked up a 1895 LTD IV yesterday for about 60% of what it is worth. Looks like it was never fired. I knew the guy who had owned it and in 30 years in the same gun club I never saw him...
