What's the expert consensus?

Having troubles with my Lyman 6.5mm mold (undersized boolits) and my brain seems to recall there was already a thread about this particular problem but I can't find it.

Is it safe to shoot cast boolits in FN FAL clone and M1 carbine or would the lead strip off and clog the gas ports? Sorry if this has been asked before. Thanks in advance

ntothing changed with respect to the recipe i was using. I shot a couple hundred factory jacketed rounds, true. Maybe the bore smoothed out or got more uniform?

I guess I'm stupid, but I fail to see how the gases working on the below neck check are any more volatile or disruptive than the gases when they encounter the check at the neck or when the check...

just traded mine off for some work around the house. It was heavy and not very accurate but it was fun. I used Lee 180 grain round nose gas check and IMR 4759 and had a lot of fun with it.

maybe I'm ignorant (ok, no maybe about it) but why would you need to anneal checks?

I recently read in an old G&A article that seating a bullet with a gas check below the neck and into the shoulder or body is a bad practice but gave no further explanation.
