I have a lot of ingots of the same alloy. I want to do the same as you but have instead just cast increments of the unknown alloy with varying amounts of tin in comparison to MV. For rifle bullets,...

The Lee .38-150SWC shoots well. I also cast the Lee.38-158FRN and it shoots good. On my next day at the range another test load is 9-122TC PC'd up to .358-122. But if I were to punch paper I'd like...

For toughness and internal disruption, how about casting Lehigh shaped bullets with Babbit? I've cast 40:1 and 30:1. Now I am thinking that I should cast 20:1 and 16:1?
I only know of the 10mm and will go with that because brass is more common, I can shoot 40cal through it for fun, or even switch out the barrel for 357 Sig using worn 10mm brass resized.

Are any of you shooting testloads at various charges, the hottest charge, or the most accurate load with your hp loads? Are you modifying your hp with a serration such as a phillips hammered into the...

Has anyone tested MP HP bullets? hat type of bullet were you using, what ratio of lead:tin:antinomy did you use, what powder did you use, what was the MV, and what medium you used?

I don't have steel molds but do you use a hot plate or a propane torch?

What are your thoughts about testing cast hollow point handgun bullets?
So far, I've cast sets using an unknown alloy from JHP cores, pellet, and .22lr. The first two with a lead pencil bhn 5 and...

Today, I had cast hp bullets at 30:1. Last week I cast 40:1 hp bullets, Pb:Sn with the PB being either sourced from range jacketed lead, .22lr lead, or pellet lead.

I have a lot of 38 and .357 brass. My 38-148WC groups are pretty decent and if the .357-148WC groups the same, why should I use the .357 brass for a 148WC, I think. Instead, I'll use 158SWC. Maybe...

I recently discovered sabots for BPR loads. For example, there are 50cal sabots that use 45 copper bullets. I don't know how accurate they are though.
I've read in threads a year ago that...

I am a Californian and the lead-free idea spread from protecting the endangered Condor species. I suggest contacting your State NRA to discuss what approaches can be used to defeat this proposition....

Given the burn rate of various powders within a load table for a certain cast bullet load, have you noticed the speed of the burn rate change depending on the bhn?

Is a 38-148WC any more or less accurate that 357-148WC at 50 yards?
Would the 158 SWC be the next most accurate target bullet for a .357mag after the 148wc?

I am casting the Lee 357-158 RFN. Would you suggest the use of 2400 or AA9 be better than Blue Dot or AA7. Would you think the LEE .357-158 GC be better than the 357-158FRN?
Can't you just recycle shot by cleaning it up and repacking it?

I pour out my lead at the end of every session into an ingot mold and then stamp it afterwards, depending on the alloy.

I once loved the Lee FCD. It fixed all my reloads that didn't chamber. Then, I stopped using the FCD after a commercial bullet caster named Dardas explained to me that the FCD was swaging the bullets...

I get impatient sometimes and if the graphite doesn't release the lead bullet, the next time I take a propane torch and make sure the hp pin is heated.
35 Rem makes a good point I forgot. I first add heat to my mold with a propane torch. Then, I put the edge of my mold into the molten lead as 35 Rem said to test it. Until that molten lead doesn't...

I've read that the proper temperature for your lead alloy is to melt the lead in your pot, turn the thermostat down in increments, and watch until it begins to solidify. Measure the lead temperature....
My suggestion is to save your money and practice with the Lee .38-148WC mold. My test groups are the size of my cylinder at 25 yards. Use your money to buy what Lee doesn't offer like a hollow point...
I own Lee and I own MP Molds. Lee molds are like Lee Reloading equipment. Lee Products are for the "budget-minded" reloader and caster. They work. For the money, you cannot beat a Lee 6-Cavity mold....
